Hello, Im thinking about purchasing a external audio card for my laptop (its a beauty isnt it Ü ) but Ive never owned a laptop before so its quite different from a desktop computer.

So how do I go about if I want to install a external soundcard to my laptop? do I have to send it in or can I manage it for myself? From all the picture Ive seen the connector seems a bit weird in the cards, http://www.xoticpc.com/wmt_options_images_popup.php?oID=1442 I mean, where does that even go?
and are all laptop external audiocards compatible with the M860TU

thanks for any help / Lukas

    hi G01kur_Kisel
i can answer this one for you.
that card is the x-fi xtreme audio notebook and it fits into the slot on the side of your laptop. if you want to also have 5.1 or 7.1 suroundsound you will also need the module adapter. (pics below)

waow thats a lot of cables all of a sudden. Do you know the specifications for the ports so I know what to look for when searching for a compatible card?

if your left handed its even better because the card fits on the right of the laptop but its not to bad if you drape the cables over the back. it doesnt really get in the way of the mouse.

hm according to clevo website there is only one compatible option and that is
One ExpressCard /54(/34) slot, but which one of those slots is that? MrDJ, looks like you have the above slot that is blocked for me and the express slot it the one below that which fits with the pictures Ive seen.

both the slots are protected with dummy covers. the 7in1 card reader slot at the botton has a rubber stopper to protect it from dust and is quite easy to remove.
the big slot where the sound card goes has the same but is a little awkward to remove. use your nail to try and ply it out.

Is the expresscard cover not push-release like the 570ru? If so push it in and it should spring out.

The top slot is an expresscard 54 slot but the expresscard 54 standard also accepts 34 widths (same connector, smaller board/card) and the bottom slot is your memory card readed (sd/mmc)
