I decided to run HWinfo32 on my Asus G51VX-X1A and it randomly powered off. Since then my Asus is powering off after a few minutes of use. I'm not sure if the issue is battery related, the power cable is breaking. Windows says that I'm plugged in. Any ideas?

    Specs:

    Core2Duo 2.53 GHZ
    Nvidia GTX 260m
    4 Gigs DDR2 Ram

I know this isn't the Asus area, but I wasn't able to get any good answers on the Asus forums.

That was the issue, the fan was completely clogged. The notebook isn't mine, it's a friends. After monitoring his temps, I've found that he hits 102 degrees C in CSS (GPU). He's been gaming on the computer for a while now. These temps seem really unsafe. Anyone know what the issue is? Should he change the thermal paste and risk voiding his warranty, or just send the machine back?

    Patience, young one.
Waiting 3 hours for an answer in the correct forum section is hardly "not getting any good answers."

Anyhow, it sounds like it's overheating. Contact Asus customer support if it's OK to change the thermal compound.
If it doesn't void the warranty go ahead. I assume you cleaned out the fans.

I recommend running 3d mark vantage a couple of times after reapplying thermal paste, check if the temps is now in the safe zone for that gpu.

Sorry, it's not my computer, it's a friends, and they really wanted answers. I did fix the issue by the way, the fan was clogged.
