    Hi guys,
I'd pretty much convinced myself to get the Sager NP5160 from either xoticpc or mythlogic, until I saw these reviews Sager - sagernotebook.com - Reviews, Ratings and Prices at ResellerRatings . Can anyone whose owned a sager comment on this? Are they really that hard to deal with? And if I buy it through xotic or mythlogic, would I even have to deal with them?

Yes, Sager is. That is why you buy from a reseller. On a side note, I highly recommend Mythlogic as your purchaser of choice. You would never have to deal with Sager, as they build their systems in house, not by Sager

As others will surely chime in purchase from a Reseller. We bundle additional Labor Warranties, Lifetime 24/7 Telephone Support along with special promotions. :)

As KC2PLL pointed out, resellers add tremendous value through their own support. Lots of them participate on these forums, and many are highly rated on resellerratings and through the BBB. Wow thanks for the quick responses! I saw this first on xotic, and they seem to have a good reputation, so Justin, it looks like you earned your pay today, haha :) My only question is about the warranty options on your site:

3 Year Labor 1 Year Parts, Lifetime Sager Toll Free Tech Support
3 Year Labor 1 Year Parts, Lifetime XOTIC PC 24/7 Toll Free Telephone Tech Support ( + 29 )
Sager 2 Year Parts & Labor Warranty, Lifetime Sager Toll Free Support ( + 69 )
Sager 3 Year Parts & Labor Warranty, Lifetime Sager Toll Free Support ( + 129 )
    2 Year Parts/Labor Warranty 24/7 Tech Support w/ LCD Accidental Damage Protection for Sager Machines ( + 229 )
    3 Year Parts/Labor Warranty 24/7 Tech Support w/ LCD Accidental Damage Protection ( + 299 )

I noticed that there's only option that lists lifetime Xoticpc tech support, and from the sounds of it that's much more useful than the Sager tech support. Is it possible to get more tan one year parts, three year labor and get the xoticpc tech support? Also, just to make sure I'm not confused, if something goes wrong with the laptop, and it needs to be sent in to get fixed, I would work with xoticpc and not sager, right?

Thanks for your kind words :) Anytime a Sager machine is purchased from us we provide LIFETIME 24/7 Telephone Tech Support. You can always deal with us for life if you prefer to do so versus working with Sager. Obviously you can work with Sager but any customer can also work with us.

You specify phone support but what about warranty work? If a shipment has to take place, where does the laptop go to?

It sometimes might come to us or it would go to Sager for any of our Sager models. We facilitate the entire process and work with the customer on it.

It is kinda scary because the majority of the 1 star complaints is due to Sager warranty work, which is who we'd have to use to do warranty work if we bought from a reseller anyway.

Something tells me having an advocate in the form of the reseller would help - especially since they sell a large volume for Sager. Kind of like how enterprise support at Dell or HP is light years beyond consumer support - it's about keeping the volume customers happy 'cause they bring the money.

Besides, I'll bet some of the resellers have a few pieces of work they can do on their own w/o having to ship to Sager.

Not necessarily, any other seller would have to use Sager to the same extent we would. Since the only Clevo Dealers are Sager, ProStar and Eurocom in North America and most purchase from Sager it would be very similar. Sager does not send out motherboards or many other Clevo components to a company that re-brands. The "shell" would have to come back to Sager, to which they have always said they take care of their brand first.

Obviously sellers also purchase in large quantities so we have the ability to get things done faster and quicker then normal as we are there consistently overseeing the entire process.

EDIT: Xerloq is correct. Some of us can do our own work to and have fully capable production & RMA departments. :) As for us we don't only sell Sager.

One part you are wrong about there Justin, we don't send back the shells we buy from sager for warranty work, we just get parts and do our own work, its cheaper and faster, and its still covered under warranty. They are more than happy to not do the warranty work, and we are happy as we can turn the issue that much faster. So I don't know who told you that they won't send at least builders like us parts, as we do all the time, even motherboards.

I was not singling anyone out. Sager will only send parts out to an extent. From what they have told us, as with our previous requests, they will not send out motherboards and some other specific Clevo parts. Obviously some parts can be sent out but there are also ones they have advised us they will not send out to anyone.
