Well I'm just putting the final touches on my NP2090 configuration, so far this is what I have:

    15.4" WXGA Glossy Display
    Core 2 Duo T7300 2.0Ghz
3GB RAM Is this necessary? It's quite a price jump.
    Geforce 8600M GT 512MB
    100GB 7200RPM
    8X DVD/RW
    IntelPRO Wireless Card
    10/100/1000 Mbps Fast Ethernet Card
    Bluetooth Module

I decided on the 3GB and 7200RPM HD because I am hoping they will extend the useful life of my system, are they good decisions?

go with a 1 module 2GB, you won't need 3GB and up just yet. with 1 module, you'll have an extra slot free to upgrade to another 2GB stick in the future if you desire. If your looking to save money, go with a USB bluetooth instead of the internal one, you can get a good USB version for around 20+. If it's more convenient to have it integrated, then leave it as it is.

Make sure you check the RAM DEALS thread for the best prices on RAM. You may just want to order the system with the bare minimum amount of memory because from what I am reading, the orders with the 1x 2GB modules are being delayed because of that.

I like your configuration. You could save some money and get the 120GB 5400RPM hard drive. I went from a 100GB 7200RPM drive to a 120GB 5400RPM in my ThinkPad and I haven't noticed much of a difference.

I suppose you can't get a WXGA+ display on that?

Well I can't afford getting it later than end of August... so I don't know what the most recent news is, but aren't they horribly behind schedule? And are they that much nicer? I've had a horrible low-res screen for ages, maybe I don't know what I'm missing.

1280x800 on 15.4 is quite nice, at least for me anyways.

You might do what others said and get a 1gb stick module instead and buy your own to add. Also the Bluetooth might increase your time as well, though maybe that was just for the one shipment.

Generally it looks good, just lower the 3gb to 1gb, and buy a 2gb or 1gb module on your own.

I think you are cutting it close if you haven't ordered already.

Yes I don't think you know what you're missing with a higher resolution screen. If you are okay with 1280x800 on a 15.4" then you should be fine with 1440x900 in my opinion.

2 x 1024MB RAM is no longer an issue, Donald informed me that Sager [finally] got their 1 SODIMM 2GB RAM sticks.
