I have a problem using a second monitor or beamer using my M570TU, when i connect a beamer using e DVI to VGA adapter, i can't get it to work without a reboot. The same thing for VGA monitors.

Using a DVI monitor doesn't require a reboot.

    System is a M570TU (9800mGT).
    Using Vista 64bit.
    Graphics driver is: DOX 181.22.
Had the same problems with previous stock drivers (don't know the version).

    I tried:
FN+F7 (doesn't work, only after reboot)
    Different drivers (dox's, doesn't help)
    Reboot (then it works)

The adapter is new, and works.

I give presentations quite a lot, so rebooting every time when i connect a beamer or monitor is anoying.
Does someone know why this happens, and how to solve this?

Tried that, and tried the Vista control panel (extend desktop).
The test monitor I have DOES apear in the nvidea 'set up multiple monitors' screen (don't know with a beamer), when i check the box and select apply, the laptop screen flickers, and the checkbox of the external monitor is unchecked. No warnings or errors generated, only a question if i like to keep the settings (Yes and No both have the same result)

I tried installing the nvidia drivers from the nvidia site, doesn't help.

Starting to wonder if the DVI outputs something else then analog signals, could that be the problem (i'm a video connector thingy's noob)? (And how to change the settings, without rebooting everytime with the cable plugged in :) )
