Hi, I just bought one of these cables. (DVI to component)
I am trying to use it to connect my laptop to my Philips HDTV, via the component-connections in the back of the television.
But when I press FN+F7 for external display, no picture shows up on my HDTV. In the nVidia control panel, it detects an "analog display" but I still can't get a picture to show up on the HDTV...what am I doing wrong?
-
The signal is likely outside the frequency range the TV can use.
Try changing that in either nVidia or perhaps the TV can be adjusted
to accept the signal.
I had similiar experience when my 901C was connected to my Bravia.
I fixed it by adjusting both the TV and nVidia's. -
Hm, if the signal was out of range the TV is supposed to say "signal out of range". Instead it just says "no video signal"
Also, I am assuming that the DVI-interface on the M570RU is outputting only digital signals. But I need it to output analog signals, since component (RGB) is analog only...how do I make that happen? -
I can confirm that the M570RU also outputs analog also, as I use a VGA-input only screen on Uni, also the projectors we got almost all got VGA-inputs only.
What drivers do you use ?? Eariler I had problems connecting mine to my HDTV aswell. My problem were, that when connecting my comp to the tv, the picture would pop up on the HDTV and the lappy screen would shut off totally and a restart was needed to turn it back on... That was fixed with a driver/bios update... Cant you connect it to a HDMI or VGA/DVI port instead ? DVI or HDMI will give you a better picture afterall
But as Zenica suggested, check if the output of the notebook is matching what the component-input of the HDTV can handle.
And for instance, my TV wount take specific component inputs at a specific aspect :S So there might be a conflict somewhere there ?? -
i have some problems too... i can't get my MT860U connected to my bravia fullhd TV with Dox drivers! the only one i use are from official nvidia website CUDA 177.84!!! now i want to try once more 178.13 LV2GO drivers! has anybody faced this problem?
-
Red Line,
Yours has HDMI so it should be "plug n play" with the Bravia. The driver should correct it or perhaps try adjusting the Advanced nVidia settings.
Sometimes it also required changing the TV's display area setting as well so the Windows is not beyond the edge of the TV screen.
Cookie,
With the DVI to HDMI it should work just as well as HDMi to HDMI.
I would suggest looking into the same things as Red Line.
Post back here if you've had any success... -
Well I tried using DVI to HDMI and it worked perfectly. But the problem is that I can't get audio on the HDMI channel on my TV, so to get audio I have to use the channel which uses component input. So therefore I have to use DVI -> component...
-
Gah why must it be so **** hard?
I'm now connecting it via a DVI -> HDMI adapter. Problem is that in the nVidia Control Panel I can chose between the options CLONE or DUAL-view, but I can NOT chose SINGLE-view so I can view the desktop ONLY on my HDTV and NOT on the laptop screen. It seems nVidia is forcing me to have my laptop screen on at all times...Why the hell is that?
And in games like CSS and Crysis, I can not chose to view the game in 1920x1080, which is the native resolution of my HDTV. I can only view the game in 1680x1050 which is the native of my laptop screen. What gives ??
Please help...this is really frustrating -
is your laptop 1680x1050 or 1920x1200?

im ordering these, one for me one for my friend:

Make sure your signal corresponds to your country, PAL or whatever else you have to set up.
As soon as you`re connected, and the secondary screen appears as a possible option on the nvidia control panel, there is a place there where you can change the signal type, adjust it to your country type.
Also make sure the cable are properly plugged in, I`ve had issues before with that... -

more than likey.... you would need to make you tv screen the primary display.... then drag or open the game on the 1080p side. you should be able to resize the screen at any time though. give this a try.
and you should be able to use the fn+f4 (speculation of course) key to turn off your laptop display, turn off your tv monitor or have them both on. -
fn+f4 is sleep...fn+f7 changes display modes
-
thank you sir! i see sager went and changed all the key combos from the standard norm.
-
define standard norm...my dell uses fn+f8 for display mode
-
-
seems half the market is one way on the external monitor combo.
dell/lenovo-ibm/sager/clevo/sony
gateway/compaq/hp/acer(fn+3-5-7)/toshiba
glad this all helps with the original question though.
edit: over looked where cookie said f7 for display.
and standard norm more or less meaning:
media/volume/brightness/bt/ keys to the right and sleep/help/display keys to the left (talking about the function keys) -
-
Hmm, thanks I will try doing that now.
-
Well I don't have time now, so I'll try it later.
But I have another problem. Since I'm using a DVI->HDMI adapter to get the video signal to my TV, I can't get audio, only video. (Since DVI don't carry audio).
So I am thinking of buying one of these adapters: Clicky
The problem here is that the adapter requires digital audio input. So my question is, does the M570RU have any form of digital/toslink audio output capability? -
Check your TV to see if there is an additional Audio Input that is active at the same time HDMI is active.
A lot of LCD TVs have this function ( as well as other random plasmas etc )
I have seen this often ( in my industry in home AV ) where people will use a surround sound receiver but not have surround sound speakers on 'all' the time. In this case, the receiver does not pass audio through HDMI when it upconverts all other component/composite/svideo sources etc.
If your TV does have a separate audio input for HDMI, you don't have to use that adapter.
The 570ru indeed gives you a SPDIF - or digital coaxial output. However, it will be in the form of a 1/8" mono jack. You will need an adapter to change it to a normal RCA Coaxial Connector.
If your TV has an analog output, you can run a 1/8" stereo jack to stereo left/right RCA analog connectors and just use the line-out audio jack.
Gophn and others have outlined it in this thread.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=209835
On another note, to confirm what others have said...
If you have to clone your display, and your lcd is 1680x1050, your TV will not go to 1920x1080.
You have to find a way to enable the single display, new software/drivers or some fooling around with the function-key ( I haven't played around with the M570ru specifically in this case )
Once you have done that, your display resolution options will change.
Extending the desktop and playing around with minimizing/maximizing is a probable work-around but it doesn't solve your "laptop lcd on all the time" problem. -
Yes my TV indeed has a 3,5mm minijack input that is active the same time as the HDMI. Problem is that I can't figure out how to properly configure it. I did absolutely everything the user manual said, but I still get no sound on the HDMI channels. Therefore I am considering buying that adapter.
Also, exactly where on the M570RU is there a 1/8" monojack output?
EDIT: NVM I just saw the thread you posted. The black 3,5mm output to the right is the one that outputs SPDIF, correct?
EDIT 2: I also heard rumours that the 7-pin special s-video output on the back of the M570RU has SPDIF output...Is this correct?
