Hey all, I'm in the market for a gaming laptop and heard lots of great things about Clevos. Did a bunch of research and I'm interested, yet still somewhat hesitant...

I was thinking of getting the Sager NP7850 (Clevo N850HPC6) with the 1060, upgraded to 16gb of ram and a 500gb 850 evo instead of a mechanical drive. On all the reseller sites, that configuration is around $1350-$1400.

Heres a direct link to the configuration on XoticPC http://www.xoticpc.com/shared_product/index/configure/id/41127/

I'm hesitant because I've never heard of Clevo until today. I was going to get an Acer or Asus but this Clevo looks like a nice bang for your buck. And the displayport drives would be awesome to use on my 144hz monitor.

How are the temps on this particular model? I plan on using a laptop cooler and monitoring them as much as possible. I've seen threads where people are complaining about the CPU going to 90+ playing GTA V. Can anyone confirm/deny? Also, are all the resellers basically the same?

    Sorry for all the questions!

The temps are pretty decent, the cooling got a big upgrade over the 1050ti models with dual dedicated heatpipes for the CPU and dual dedicated heatpipes for the GPU.

Kaby lake chips do run fairly hot though.

GTA V is very CPU intensive game, but there are quite a lot of tweeks you can make to the game settings which noticably reduce the CPU load without noticably affecting the way that the game looks or plays.

Yes, GTA V is pretty CPU intensive. You might see temps in the high 80s Celsius, possibly low 90s on that specific game, but this can be mitigated with better thermal compound, voltage offset, etc. (and not every game will stress the CPU to the same extent).

I think I'm going to pull the trigger and get it. Any thoughts on spending the extra $35 for IC Diamond thermal compound?

Definitely worth it unless you want to purchase the stuff and apply it yourself to save a few bucks.
