Hi all, I've been saving up for a powerhouse laptop for a long time and came across the Sager NP9260. I really want a powerful laptop that'll handle everything I can throw at it right now like 3d animation programs to graphic design to the latest video games. I could say my knowledge is on the intermediate level when it comes to computer hardware, but this is the first time I'm stepping towards buying a laptop and I want to make sure this laptop does what I need it to do before I spend the money I've been saving for so long.

I'm sure the Np9260 can handle 3d Animation great, but I'm a bit unsure if ill be able to play video games that are on the way like Bioshock or Crysis because I don't know too much about video cards (All I know is that they're better than the Radeon X300 I have now :) ). I know these games haven't been released yet, but do any of you have a rough idea if the laptop can handle atleast Bioshock on max settings? What about Crysis?

This is the config of the NP9260 I plan on buying:

    WUXGA Screen
    Geforce Go 7950 Gtx (SLI)
    Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz
    2,048 Mb DDR2/800
    200GB 7,200 Rpm Hard drive
    Windows Xp Pro

    Thanks!

It should be more than adequate - if anything is. Try reading through the following thread to allay any "concerns" you might have: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=134808

I'm assuming since you put SLI next to the card name, you're getting the dual graphics cards?

If not (and if you're skipping the second HD as well), I'd suggest the 5790 as an alternative.

Yeah I plan on getting dual 7950's. Now that you mention the
HD, Am I able to put in another HD and set it up for RAID after I've bought it without a problem?

RAID has to be set before any OS gets onto the unit.

So if you ware getting another HDD and setting up RAID after you have bought it.... you will lose all data have to set up the RAID array and then install Windows again cleanly.

Yes, but only if you really don't want/need all of the extra room to grow that the NP9260 provides.

Well. he has the dual cards anyways, so this is a moot point.

However, I didn't see the need to subject him to the extra weight of the 9260 if he wasn't going to be using the space for anything.

you should rape crysis and bioshock with dual cards, and you can go x6900, or q6700(if its verydied) next year as prices will drop =)
