I know this sounds crazy but I think a desktop power supply would last a lot longer than a laptop power supply due to fans, etc., and would provide obviously a lot more power and head room if necessary. Would it be possible to rig a desktop power supply to power a laptop. I did a google search and came up with nothing. I know it's insane to think of doing this, but was wondering if something like this has ever been done.

Other than that, there might be a problem with voltage and other stuff. Buying a stronger laptop PSU seems to be the better option. -
That's what I figured, was just wondering, seeing that desktop psus are cheaper and might last longer.

I think there already is something like that, what I've seen in some notebook repair shops, they have a box with adjustable voltage and current and a cable connected to connect to a notebook.
