Why would you want to buy a past generation machine still using ATI 4 series GPU?

    :)
Um ,because I'm an idiot?? ,No , just kidding..

I think there going to refresh the rx2 to 5870 soon, also the alien heads doesn't do it for me,but if the build quality is Superior, ill Lean that way.

So build quality and cooling capacity is important to me..

both companies offer similar hardware, it's just a matter of which looks you prefer.

alienwares are overpriced and in my opinion they look retarded

clevos have strong build quality and look professional, and you dont get overcharged just to get flashy leds or a stupid alien head logo on it. the only thing is that i think the only clevo that offers dual GPUs (X8100) is 18" , while the Alienware is 17"

oh yeah... Dell shipping is SLOW, companies like XoticPC are FAST, and their customer service is awesome :)

EDIT: might be worth mentioning that I've been told that the Alienware was a b***h to open up and replace parts, while most Clevos have a convenient backpanel that opens up and gives you access to all the important parts easily

If you only want a single card solution, very understated looks and top of line cooling, then a Clevo W870CU would be the best choice available IMO.

If you want or need a dual GPU solution, the M17x is the clear winner because of warranty coverage, cooling, RGB LED screen, back lit keyboard, better looks etc.

IMO the M17x looks far far better than anything Clevo has to offer, and if I'm paying thousands I want it to look like it's worth the money I paid, just my opinion.

The M17x can be difficult to open for noobs, but there are videos in the forum showing users how to do it. It's easy IMO.

My M17x ended up being cheaper for me than a similarly configured M980NU.

It's build quality and cooling is superior than that of my last Clevo.

Shipping can be slow and lately it has been, it can take a month to get it.

Almost 6 months with the W870CU for me and very happy still. I only had the Rx1 for 4 months. Like was said until a refresh happens with the 5870 cards or better, I think you’re better off with the newer technology in the Clevo..That’s me anyways.

Best three words I've heard all day. The users also look retarded; just look at Crylo's ever changing avatar from time to time.

Define which Clevo you're looking at. People here will give you the pros and cons of each.

You should buy a Clevo because it doesn't have a bunch of lights that beg the people around you to 'liberate' the machine from your hands.

Clevo should just make D900F dual GPU like the previous D901C and take back the most powerful laptop crown from alienware to shutup all alienware fans. A 17" with 3 HDD, hexacore desktop CPU, and dual 5870s would crush every laptop alienware send at it. Then again, when 5870 crossfire comes out, you never know what Clevo will do, since 5870 has much lower power consumption than a 285, they might just make it crossfire and stick it into the D900F, ok maybe not, but possible if they do a motherboard revision.

Also, just to correct, a Clevo doesn't look cheap compared to an alienware, it simply doesn't look Ferrari/Lambo kind of flashy expensive, but it has that Merc S class/Ros royce kind of classical expensive.

This is the wrong subforum to post in if you want notebook buying advice; go over to our What Should I buy forum instead.

A thread topic like this is bound to cause flamewars.

    Thank you.
