Mine is being delivered today. I checked the notebook cooler thread but wasn't much in the way of 17".

And most seem to have really bad reviews that I've looked at. Anybody care to share what they are using and if it works well?

Why do you want to spend money on that? Do you live in extremely hot places?

The CM Storm SF 19 is great. It has 2 140mm fans that can be upgraded if you have better fans that you want to put on there. It is powered by a wall socket, so it gets more power than from just a USB. It is also a 4 port USB 2.0 HUB. It has several different LED Light settings as well if you are into that. The lights can be turned on or off by a switch on the side. The fans are variable speed via a knob on the side of the cooler. It ranges from completely silent to jet engine depending on your cooling needs.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I find them pretty useful. The decrease my idle temps by 1-2 C and my load temps by 4-5 C. Over a period of time, that can definitely extend the life of your machine and give you a little more room to OC your GPU if you want. I also find the USB hub convenient. That said, if you are between a hardware upgrade for your machine and buying a cooler, I would get the upgrade every time.

I picked up the Cooler Master NotePal U3 Notebook Cooler with 3 Fans.

From the reviews I have read it supposed to be great, I am using it with mt 14 inch notebook right now with no issues but obviously the heat differential will be different after hours of gaming on a 9170.

The U3 is nice for a laptops that won't be putting off too much heat, but it can't keep up with larger laptops with 100W GPUs. It has 3 fans, but they are all powered off of 1 USB port. They simply don't have the juice to get up into the higher RPMs that it takes to cool machines like the 9130 and the 9150 so I don't think I think there are better options for the even larger 9170. Thermaltake makes some 17 inch coolers that are powered a wall socket as well, but I really like the CM that I linked above.
