Out of curiosity, if the P-CPU's are more energy efficient than T-series, where do the E-series fit in? Are another generation ahead of the P's?

No, the highest is the X extreme, then T, then p, then everythign else is lower.

Wow thanks for speedy response. So the E-series are the most energy efficient ones? Do quad beat the E-series in terms of energy efficiencies or is it like comparing apples and bananas?

Quads are desktop processors atm so they beat any mobile processor in terms of power consumption, the mobiel quads which haven tbeen released yet will be the most power hungry in terms of the mobile family.

The E8400 is a desktop processor btw so its a different class from the notebook

E8400 is a desktop CPU, while the P8400 is a mobile CPU. The two are not interchangeable. The P series is just the generation of mobile CPU's after the T series.

Yea, the E series is a desktop CPU, so it should have a higher power consumption than the t or p series. I think it's around 65W TDP.

The difference between P and T is only one of power draw. Performance is the same, if they have the same FSB, Cache and clock frequency. P's are generally a better choice.

The Ts would allow for a better CPU OC though if you wanted to.

The E Series, while Desktop processors, can run in the 9262 [d901] Laptops, as can the Q Quads.
While most of the other Series Laptops fall back to Laptop Processors...
There could be an interesting debate in regards to ordering Processors by power over the range of Intel iterations...

Thing is, I see now that they are offering quad processors in 9262's, as well as duo E-processors, but I ask myself at what point down the road will having a quad CPU become beneficial to obtain an edge in gaming vs having an E-processor.

Also, will in theory a quad processor heat up somewhat more than a quad processor?

Good questions. It would appear that the E8500 will be a good value for probably two years. Fast speed and FSB, while low in power; heat. In a couple year's time the replacement cost for a Q9650 will save you some gold.... And the Software will generally support it. So many choices, and so little time.

The great thing about the 9262 is the flexibility. But the weight and bulk is the trade-off...

Games will start utilizing the quad cores soon, and it only produces a little more heat than normal.

OK, so many games, so little time....
