Hi, with the most recent news about the release of a core i7 based laptop, and Clevo it's a state of the art with laptop hardware, it's there any possibility of a core i7 17'' laptop release by CLEVO? If yes, when? I need to buy a powerful laptop, I was considering one with QX9300, but I just bought a core i7 desktop and I see some differences from core2quad to core i7. It's worth waiting or buy one SAGER NP5797?

Might as well wait for Core i7 laptops to surface. But that may take another year... T-T

If you want powerful, get one of the desktop component based Clevo. Currently it's the D901C, but soon the D90xF and M98xNU will be available~ :D

Not this year. If you hadn't heard the news, major laptop manufacturers have asked Intel to delay the launch of the Capella platform, and Intel is likely to comply. This will push the scheduled October launch into Q1 of 2010 at the earliest.

i7 has yet to show an advantage over Core 2 Quad in gaming, so I'd get whatever I want now.

Hey Hirohata. Any chance on the new D90xF clevo having the new 40nm GPUs in it. The equivalent of the 9800m GTX SLI but with 40nm process.

Not sure about that, as it should basically be NVIDIAs job, not Clevo :p
    More "info" in Gophn's thread.

The GTX will go 55nm, and the D9xF is likely to have one, but the 40nm GPUs will be based off of a different architecture.

Thanks for the neat info~ Just wondering, will the current D901C be able to handle the newer cards, or will it just be maxed out with the current 9800M GTX?

I'm not so sure that Intel will delay the rollout. There was another article titled "Intel denies rumored Calpella platform delay, says paper", but I couldn't read it since you have to be a subcriber.

From a purely business standpoint it makes no sense to delay it. Sales are dropping off as it is due to the economy. They will only drop off even more from people delaying their purchase to wait for the i7. Plus by then, even if they have to get Vista, by that time one can probably get a free upgrade to Windows 7 when its released.

Their best bet is to start cutting prices now and liquidate the inventory, or find themselves stuck with some really devalued inventory. I just noticed that the 9262 resellers (Powernotebooks, XoticPC and PCTorque) have just cut their prices by $400 on a set up I had been looking at. I think that's their best move. After all, they can get a premium price when the new i7's come out.

I believe that the drop in price on the 9262s is due to the price cut that Intel just made in the prices for some of the quad-cores, which was to be effective as of yesterday. However, the more general point still stands - cutting prices is the best way to move a glutted inventory.
