    Hi All,,

    I want to ask a question regarding RAM compatiblity in Clevo P870DM.
    I just bought Clevo P870DM without RAM, because i already bought RAM Corsair Vengeance 4X16GB 2400Mh ( http://www.corsair.com/en/vengeance...m-2400mhz-cl16-memory-kit-cmsx64gx4m4a2400c16)
    I put all RAM to my Clevo, when i turn on the Clevo, the Clevo screen is just black, the fan is dead but my hardisk is still spinning.

    I ask to my Reseller and told about this incident, he suggest to change RAM to GSKILL.
    based on his suggestion i bought GSKILL RAM 2400Mhz.
    i remove all corsair RAM and put the GSKILL RAM, and it works, my Clevo is running well.

    I curious, i try to put 1 Corsair RAM, and it works too, again my Clevo is running well.
    but when i put 2 Corsair RAM, my Clevo is Dead, screen is just black, fan is dead.

    so i try this combination..
    1. 1 GSKILL RAM 2400 Mhz + 1 CORSAIR RAM (RAM NUMBER 1) --> Running Well
    2. 1 GSKILL RAM 2400 Mhz + 1 CORSAIR RAM (RAM NUMBER 2) --> Running Well
    3. 1 GSKILL RAM 2400 Mhz + 1 CORSAIR RAM (RAM NUMBER 3) --> Running Well
    4. 1 GSKILL RAM 2400 Mhz + 1 CORSAIR RAM (RAM NUMBER 4) --> Running Well (all Corsair RAM is good)
    5. 1 GSKILL RAM 2400 Mhz + 2 CORSAIR RAM (RAM NUMBER 1 & 2) --> DEAD
    6. 1 CORSAIR RAM (RAM NUMBER 1) --> DEAD

    Any idea, why my Clevo behaviour like this??
    Fyi, my Clevo already used perma mod.

    Currently i use 1 GSKILL RAM + 1 CORSAIR RAM,
    and i attach my current BIOS Configuration..

    @Mr. Fox can chime in, but heres the bottom line. Sometimes Systems/RAM are just super picky, he had a similar issue with his Alienware system and Corsair memory.

    It's not common, but sometimes systems don't work with specific ram. I think I've seen it more often in desktops, but it does happen in laptops occasionally. Usually it would require an update from the manufacturer to include more types of ram.

    Try manually setting the timings, it may give a better result.

    In my nearly 20 years of PC building and using, I've used just about every brand and type of RAM available. The only two brands to ever give me significant trouble were Komputerbay (cheap stuff sold by Amazon) and Corsair. I'm not a fan of anything Corsair makes, to be honest. I've found G.Skill and Crucial to give the best results.

    I've found some ram likes tweaking, some likes stock. Obviously a lot of people are looking for plug in and forget but I would avoid speeds beyond what Intel recommends for that.

    sorry I've no experience in tweaking value in bios.
    If you have guidance, you can share to me..

    @ ALL
    thanks all for the suggestion,
    If there is no solution in my current situation,
    next week, i think i want to sell my RAM to others. And buy some GSKILLS RAM.
    :)

    Write down the auto settings from the gskill and use those.

    I've seen GSkill RAM work flawlessly with the P870.. I would sell the Corsair and get some GSkill RAM tbh..

    Honestly, with RAM, brand doesn't really matter, the motherboard will decide what it likes and what it doesn't, you have very little say in it.

    We've had systems reject Samsung ECC RAM because they are of different manufacturing batches. But to be fair, 512GB of ram is a colossal pain in the ass to install since some of these boards are so damn finicky.

    EDIT: Quoted wrong post, lol

    Yeah trying to get the latest QVL on a server product can be rediculous.
