    Hey friends
ive been experiencing some major problems with my new Sager please see here for reference.... http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=5014811&posted=1#post5014811
im wondering if there is a possiblity of the high H/D temps 58-62 degrees causing video hardware errors ie: game crashing, or if they are completely unrelated......
    Thanks alot for any suggestions....

i couldnt get any further than properties, there didnt seem to be a harddrive listed..

I too would like to know because I will be purchasing this laptop soon and I need to know such things.

I plan on disabling many features that Vista runs that work out the HDD (Links were given in another thread) and then I will also have a notebook cooler. The ZM-NC2000...Hopefully heat isnt an issue when I get my laptop.

All of the hot hdds I've seen seem to just slow everything you do in windows until it is practically unusable. I experienced this once when I was at a friend's house that had no AC and ambient temperature was of 27-29c. Hdd temps were in the mid 60s and windows explorer just stopped responding and everything was slow. If you didn't see any apparent slow downs before the BSOD, I don't think the hdd is causing it.

Yeap no slow downs at all, one second fps in the high 40's next second dots all over the sreen followed by a no response or a crash...(H/D temps at crash 60 degrees)..so now im guessing its gpu related, as im getting a message in the toolbar saying video drivers not responding-installing video drivers-video drivers installed.....
But im puzzled as to whats going on.....gpu benchmarks where fantastic i scored 10724 in 3dmarks06 straight out of the box.

HDD at 60 should cause no problem.

60c hard drive is border line where prolonged use will cause problems.
high end laptops should be roughly 50-54c
mine only reaches 60c when its defragging or doing a virus scan.as soon as these are finished it goes back down to 50c
have you cleaned your fans out.this is normally the first step but as yours is new this shouldnt be a problem.
can you download HW Monitor and HD Tune and post the results for us.
also depending what the temperature is where you live also can put it up by a few degrees.

i just noticed in your sig that you also have a cooler. is this running when you get these temperatures.

also have you got the intel matrix storage manager loaded.this can bring your temps. down by 3-4c get it HERE

I had the same issue with my GDDR. For me frequencies between 850 to 900 on the GDDR will cause crashes just like yours. Higher or lower don't cause any problems.

double click on my computer on desktop or in start menu.
right click on local disc (c)
click properties at bottom of this list.
on this page you will have a circle in blue/purple with your hard drive capacity.
at the top of that page you will see tabs, general, tools, hardware, sharing, security, quota.
click on hardware and in that box sould be your disc drive, optical dvd etc.
click on the top one which should be your harddrive. at the bottom of that box click on properties.
click on policies at the top of this box and there will be 2 tick boxes. enabling write caching on the disc and enable advanced performance.

the top tick box is what people are saying to untick.

ive still got both mine ticked and have had no problems but if this has been sugested the problem is then its worth trying.
can always go back at a later stage and tick it again.

Thanks mate it didnt make any difference at all in the end, mind you i cant play any games at the moment so havent tried it in that situation.......every game now neither crashes or gives low FPS for example ive been playing sacred2 fallen angel and where yesterday i was getting average of 40+ FPS now im getting max of 17 FPS, ive checked and double checked im running in high performance, and now i dont think it has anything to do with the H/D....which only leaves ram, cpu or gpu..........ram seems to be fine, and i tried converting a video and cpu handled that task like a cool breeze in a warm afternoon......which leads me to think gpu.....especially with all the video error reports im getting....37 today and i havent had the machine on for more than 2 hours lol

Yeap contacted them via pm already hopefully hear back within the next day or so......thing that hurts is im in india and if i had to send the machine back it would cost a fortune....hoping its only a gpu issue so maybe they will send me a replacement and i can send the dud one back.....rather than have to send the whole machine back.....just my luck to get the one in a 100 lemon lol......

So ive run, HDtune, memtest, HWmonitor all came back with flying colours, ive run guru3d driver sweeper and installed earlier, stock and latest drivers, none of this made any difference, im fairly sure its a gpu hardware problem.....every game i run (bar 1), gets a not responding, or worse a BSOD after afew minutes of gameplay at really low fps (10-17), the one game that runs, fallout3 runs flawlessly with great FPS apart from it only runs using the middle section of the screen with around a 3" black border on all 4 sides........
So, now im out of ideas as to what to try next.......
    confused....clevo owner.......!
