Ok, so I had an issue with Fraps recorded sound, so I got myself X-Fi Go USB sound card. After auto install, it made the sound crackle. This seems to be a well-known problem of x-fi products, and Creative Labs blames it on the motherboard, speaking of which...where can I find the motherboard model name? And does anyone have a solution to this problem?

3rd edit: when I connect it to any usb port of the cooling fan hub, it starts to crackle about 30 seconds or so. It works fine however when I connect it directly to a laptop usb port. Why is this?

As far as I understand it Clevo design and build their own motherboards so you're not going to get much help my getting a model number from that. Guess you could try and find out what USB controller they use and see if there's maybe known issues with that...

This is a very known problem with many Creative products. I don't understand why Creative STILL hasn't fixed this crap.

I have found that setting the USB port speed from High to Full eliminates the crackling on my SoundBlaster X-Fi USB 5.1.

    How do you do it?

Also, turn down volume hotkey doesn't work. This was something to be expected, but can it be fixed?

Sorry about the delay. Should be in the Creative Audio Control Panel, located in a path resembling C:\Program Files (x86)\Creative\AudioCS\Creative Audio Control Panel.

Look in the "Device Information" tab and you'll see the option.
