    Hey all,
My m860tu has been crashing a lot recently. I have some guesses as to why, but first I'll explain the problem. (keep in mind that this happens consistently, not just once or twice.)
So I like to watch movies sometimes and I often fall asleep before they end. What happens is that the movie eventually finishes, and when I wake up the computer is at the screen where it asks how to boot (safemode, last good config, normal...etc.) when I try to boot normally it starts for a while, but then ends up back at the same screen again. This happens with every available start method. So I got my OS cd and stuck that in and did a system restore and for some reason it starts. But then the next day the exact same thing happens.
Here's a thought. Is it possible that the heat from the computer is making something in the HD corrupt? I have not made any driver changes from stock, so that cannot be the problem. Can heat make a laptop do that?
I know that I could just turn my computer off before bed, but I would prefer to be able to keep it always on.
It is the 64 bit operating system I should mention... Which I would not suggest for anyone simply because it is far too unstable to be used by people who do not know a lot about computers- but thats another story.

Anyone have a suggestion? Is my harddrive faulty?

Not exactly. In my case I am not turning my computer on and seeing the screen, it is appearing all by itself. Whether or not that makes a difference I am not sure. It didnt prompt me to insert the cd at all, so Im not even sure it was the same screen as the other person had.
Other than that it does appear to be a similar problem in that each boot it requires the CD and a reparation.
Not to sound contrary, I did read that post already before making mine and I tried the suggestions made there but I am still having the problem.
This makes me wonder if the harddrives are losing some data when they shut down. Ill PM the other person who had problems and ask for their specs.
