No problems with my sager wireless for more than 10 months. a couple days ago the wireless connection to my router began kicking in and out every few seconds. here is what's odd: I can't delete either the 2.4 or the 5Ghz connections from Network & Sharing Center. the two networks keep coming back in "Manage Wireless Networks" when I delete them--in just a second or two. I was able to get a steady connection to my phone's hotspot, which showed up in Manage Wireless Networks" until I switched back (as a test) to the problematic 5Ghz network signal from my home router. at the moment, the signal is actually steady on the 5Ghz band. (not that i have any less trouble when the sager tries automatically to connect to the 2.4 right after it loses the 5Ghz signal--they will jump back and forth in several seconds, trying first one, then the other) the other wonkiness is that all 9 important windows updates fail to install today. ANY ideas, no matter how far out, will be entertained!!!
The one remaining thing I can add is that I took my router and laptop over to my dad's home to show him that his NEW router was defective. My router worked just fine over there for his various laptops and printers. Sometime within a day or two of getting my router and laptop back to my house, the flaky wireless connections began, ONLY on my laptop. I have several other wireless devices that have been getting steady signals.
(and even as I've written this, I've still got a good connection thru the router's 5Ghz.
I'm wondering if the registry is corrupt or what could be wrong that I can't make Network Center "forget" the 2.4 and 5 Ghz networks that have been defined on my laptop.
BTW, signal strength isn't any issue. router and laptop are less than eight feet apart---the same positions they are in 99.9% of the time and signal strength shows as "excellent".
SOLVED.

update: without rebooting (a second time, that is), the updates are all installed after the 4th attempt.

I tried manually adding a network in the wireless management, and nothing shows on the list. grrr. not sure what I've got to do to fix this--do I reinstall the adapter in Device Manager, or do I reinstall some portion of windows? how about the System File Checker (I'm not a fan of that).

AHA!!! Found the problem...Intel ProSet software was snagging the info away from Windows Wireless management.
