    - I have sound via the realtek device
    - I had the connect light on the creative device last night but don't get it any more.
    - Have not been able to get sound via the creative device
    - I have uninstalled all the creative software, rebooted and re-installed, disable the realtek high def audio device and SPDIF
    - I have uninstalled realtek high def audio device and SPDIF, but can't get the sound via the x-FI expresscard

    Any ideas?

Solved my own problem. I had to disable the realtek in BIOS as well as the steps I took above.
