I'm played the MP alpha when it was out and was running it at 40 fps If I remember and it wasn't even max out.
Highly doubt we will run it at 60 fps +

Just fire up Crysis 2 and subtract like 5-10FPS due to it being badly optimized. Same engine, no major improvements/changes.

Well to be fair it was an alpha, code wasnt optimized and frames were dropping at random points of the map. I'm pretty confident that you can run it on max settings at 60 fps, if we dont get underutilization (which the alpha had). maybe tune down AA a bit/turn it off and you should be fine

(dont know what cards you have got)

There is no way we will be maxing out Crysis 3 at 60 fps. Their "high end" requirements (basically the requirement for max settings) is either a gtx 680 or hd 7970. We will have to lower settings to even be able to run it a decent framerate.

If you needed an excuse to upgrade to a 9370 with 680m SLI / 7970 Xfire, here it is!

lol nah I'm keeping the NP9150, if I get a desktop it won't be until fall 2013 when Haswell and the new gpus have been out for a while. I'll still use the laptop for work and gaming, I love it :D

And thanks for helping me get the new keyboard. It works so much better, even though it's the new Windows 8 version so my fn and Windows keys are flipped lol.

So a properly tweaked 7970M hovers around 7870 desktop levels which is not worlds apart from those requirements.

A tweaked 680M running at around 1ghz + core speeds is going to be slap bang on those top requirements.

What is stock? It has been so long since I have run such a thing :p

Your about 25-30% off the pace of the recommended configuration, but what FPS their recommended hardware is getting is anyone's guess.

Well it's not too hard, but at the same time, not worth it until you are not getting enough performance.

Don't forget that Crytek has always loved to show off. Back when the ultra-mega-dx11-pwnzor-graphs pack was released for Crysis 2, they announced you'd need a GTX580 / HD6950 or 6970 to have it running smoothly. I can tell quite easily when I'm playing with less than 30 fps, and, well, I played the game with all maxed out in 3D on a GTX470 with more than 30 FPS / eye (ie more than 60 FPS). So yeah, unless there is a difference of perception of the FPS between 3D and non 3D, I'm sure you can lower by a dozen the model # of the graphic card recommended for the ultra settings...

Playing on medium was good enough for me, the sudden frame drop on high was way too much. Hopefully they fix that.

It looks like the gaming industry is being the gaming industry, going all out. At least it won't tick us off as bad as Crysis 1 did back in 2007. Luckily our Sandy/Ivy Bridge i7s are surprisingly quite close to the Sandy Bridge i7s, so if we are later able to upgrade our GPUs our CPUs should still be fine.

That minimum required GPU spec is killer though. GTS 450/HD 5770! Those cards still work fine for medium settings at 1080p these days. I guess it is good to see the PC industry finally move to DX11 for real. And, because a huge chunk of gamers still run dual cores, it was good for Crytek to maintain compatibility with the Core 2 Duos and Athlon/Phenom X2s. I was once an E8400 owner and was happy in 2011 as new games continued to work well at modest settings.

What is interesting and POSSIBLY troubling is that the recommended CPU is...an Intel Core i3-530. I don't want to complain, but I have in the recent past complained about AAA games not using quad cores to their full potential. I am not too worried though, because I feel it is current consoles that are keeping current developers from creating newer, more robust engines that take advantage of more CPU power. They do not have the resources to release Crysis 3 with two separate engines (one for PC, one for consoles), but they DO have the resources to put on more eye candy for the GPU to eat up on PCs. Once the new consoles come out, we will NEED atleast i7s to drive the very complex physics engines that will be used.

I just got Crysis 3 and man I am disappointed how my 7970m is handling it.
    Latest drivers/catalyst and no OC. OC @ 950/1350 adds about 4 - 9fps

    [[Very High]] [MSAA 2x] [16x] = 15 - 25 fps
    [[High]] [8x] = 20 - 30 fps
    [[Medium]] [8x] = 30 - 45 fps

nothing to be disappointed about. the 680m fares just a bit better but not by a significant margin (check notebookcheck crysis 3 benchmark article, for example). its just a reaaaally demanding game that hasnt yet been properly optimized for in current drivers. lets wait and see how that develops, otherwise well just have to wait for nextgen gpus ;)

oh btw, just noticed u cranked the AA almost all the way up. try and use 2-4x AA, thatll give u a significant perf. boost while at the same time sacrificing almost no visible quality.

i still think the demand on the cpu, wont be all that great, even after the release of the next generation consoles. They will be making games for three very similar platforms, so optimization for hardware will be a new thing for pc gamers. :)

You probably have something wrongly set.
I tested it with everything maxed (MAX MSAA, 16xAA, high blur, everything!) and was getting between 8 and 20fps (prob 14 fps average).
I now play it with low MSAA, VERY HIGH textures and everything else VERY high 16xAA and medium blur and am getting 15 to 37 fps (22 fps average):
    2013-02-28 12:11:52 - Crysis3
    Frames: 3874 - Time: 180000ms - Avg: 21.522 - Min: 15 - Max: 37
AND i find it entirely playable at these settings, I might try tweaking AA to lower setting to see how it goes.

just did a small test - System Spec High - low MSAA - 16x AF - low Motion Blur : Gives me roughly constant ~45FPS on 7970M 1Ghz/1560Mhz.
