Ok so it is confirmed, on my laptop anyway, I get 2-10 fps avg better in dx10 than dx9 in crysis. I wonder why this is? I tested it 3 times using fraps from save points and dx10 is faster and smoother, before the 1.1 patch it was the other way around. I wonder if switching to DX9 after playing in dx10 does some weird thing to configs that causes this. I wanted to play in dx9 to get those 40+ fps but its just not happening. DX9 stutters quite a bit as well. Anyone wanna give this one a shot? :)

Well, DirectX10 was designed to perform better than DX9, in some games like Lost Planet that's noticable. I guess it depends what settings you're running Crysis at. Some resolutions/setting combinations might be better in DX10 mode than DX9 and vice verca. Or maybe Microsoft is improving DX10 rendering and starting to try to live up to its promises.

Its not suprising, lost planet has been running better in dx10 for me for a while. Even back when I was using a 8600m gt

That's odd, I found exactly the opposite results when I tested the Sager NP5791 with the 8700M-GT back in October. One way or another, DirectX 10 does not do anything noticeable for this game . . . visual quality is the same in DX9. As a matter of face, DirectX 10 has yet to show anything for the hype Microsoft gave it.

Yeah I know, its weird really. I guess my 8800 just like dx10 better. Though it could be that I have a warez version of the game, but Im getting ready to go get it at Fry's anyway. Personally i thought this game was insanely fun.

Well I have another update, apparently it was the 1.1 patch that caused dx9 to have worse performance. This is something that has been discussed on the modcrysis.com forums with the 8800m GTX with the clevo/sony 167.43 drivers. So if you have those drivers w/8800M then DO NOT update to 1.1 patch for crysis. cheers! :)

I don't think anyone at this point is even looking to dx10 for any thing special like you said :D. I've done several test now with lost planet and I think it was back when the 169.xx drivers where release I first noticed lost planet started performing better in dx 10.

Finished crysis last week, something my m9750 failed to do lol. Been working to much lately to really play any other games.
