^ ok apparently when you use FRAPS for screenshots as soon as you hit f10 the fps drops 2-3, so those fps are actually 2-3 fps higher if it matters.
-
nice pics.
wished my 7800GTX can set things to that high. -
The whole system plays into this not just the video card (granted with less impact than the video but still...) -

Nice pics.
You should try running at a higher resolution, namely 1440x900. Also, run it in DX9 mode for better performance and no hit in visual quality. I think the game should be playable at all high @ 1440x900 with no issues. -
-
here is Crysis DX10 with the 1.1 patch.
settings now are 1440x900, all options HIGH, dx10.

Wished I had a MXM-IV notebook. -

Really impressive stuff. How much better is the framerate in DX9 mode? Is Very High playable on 1280x800? Thanks man!

^crysis dx10, 1440x900 all HIGH options.

Wow very impressive. I should have some picks up later for the 8800m gts. where did you download the patch?
-
here is crysis dx9, 1440x900, all HIGH settings. It is MUCH smoother in dx9, and an avg (of what i could tell) about 7-10 fps faster with the patch (dx9), and about 2-8 fps faster dx10. But that is using real-time fraps.
These are dx9 pics.Attached Files:

Yay just got my laptop... im doing a memtest... gonna take forever

Those pics look realy nice . I just recently finished the game , i mean first chapter of it ( as it is going to be trilogy ) . I must say that is one of the coolest games games ive played since Super Mario Brothers 3 .
The story is pretty exciting and well written . It has amazing graphics , even with lowered res and reduced video settings . I have yet to install and try Doom3 on my comp , just to see it with everything maxed out ( previous 7900GS 256Mb wasnt able to run it on Ultra settings very well ) .
Also i need to tweak crysis a bit to squize as much FPS as i can while not sacrificing the quality . -

^ this is still with stock eurocom 167.43 drivers. I cant wait to try out the 169.xx set that are supposed to enhance the fps.
-
wicked screens man. cant wait to order my 5792 sum time in feb =]
keep up the good work! -
megabud, could you post a few pics of your notebook?
-
Try the lowest 16:10 resolution you can find ( I think its 800x480 or 500) and your fps should increase by 2-5...
-
I have done no benchmark on my laptop... i worked today and im tired... and i have to send back my machine soon... so theres just some picture of the machine... the inside... and when i was doing a memtest...
-
-
Yeah I will do that sometime today.
-
If anyone could post a few Counterstrike Source/Team Fortress 2 or Lord of the Rings Online framerates... that would be cool. I would speculate that those games would play pretty well on this sort of config. My Mac runs them but not on the highest settings possible.
-
Well i play WoW everything maxed. at 1900x1200... fps never drop under 50.. but no AA... i dont need aa at this resolution lol
im still DLing crysis... but this game is 6gig... -
Yeah well WoW's graphics are a joke compared to LOTRO. The Crysis benchmarks I've seen here are really looking good. I wish I could see some in native 1680x1050 with almost high settings. Probably don't need AA at native, so that would bump up the framerates. Also, Windows XP of course...

On the 17" display do you think playing Crysis at 1440x900 with high looks better than 1280x800 on very high settings because the picture looks sharper on the display, or do you prefer very high at 1280x800 because th game looks more detailed?
-
Im a texture shader guy so 1280 with very high is nice to me, but isnt playable especially later on in the game while 1440 high is 25+ fps, so smoother.
-

Personally I would go with the higher resolution because you can see more detail. It's like a high-resolution picture; 1280x800 is the picture zoomed out all the way, but 1440x900 is zoomed in a bit and you can see more intricate details.
Check out this tweak guide for Crysis, which I have recommended in a number of posts:
http://www.tweakguides.com/Crysis_1.html
Check out the last page - you can do "Cheap Very High" settings which make everything look very high but without as much of a frame drop. -
what kind of settings can i expect on crysis if i want 30-50 FPS on a sager np5792 with the 8800M GTX on it and 2.2GHz Processor?
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
All high, 1440x900.

for some reason crysis just feels smoother dx10 more so than dx9 lately, weirdness.
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
It's because of the improved motion blur effect you get in DX10 mode.
-
yeah and the 1.1 patch sped things up quite a bit.
-
giv us some 1900x1200 and 1600x1050.
I hate to say this but my single 7900 can get 30fps constant medium shaders and shadows @1600x1050 all other settings Very High.
I want to see higher res.
I can get 40fps @ 1440 and 1280 on my single 7900. still with only medium shadows and shaders all other settings to very high.
make us want it.
i know the 8800 is better. but how muchos.
1900x1200 and 1600x1050. is where it's at. -
-
Yeah I would really like to see something in 1680x1050 and 1920x1200.
-
1) You have the fastest single 7900 on the planet, engineered by God, and built by Zeus.....
or your about as full of **** as a Christmas turkey. Something is just not right here. -

is there a way to choose between playing in dx9 and dx10 mode? i have vista 64 and 8800m gtx.. just havent figured this out yet! just got the game.
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
Go to the games tab in Vista, right-click on Crysis then click run in DX9 mode. It plays in DX10 mode by default.
-
Thanks for sharing...
