This morning sucks. My 9262 doesnt start up and does 3 beeps (1 long 2 short.) I been gaming on it all last night with 100% until I had a bsod with the nvidia drivers, which I was testing with on xp 32bit with sp3. Now the fans wont spin up, and no video on the screen.
If its a video issue I'm pissed. I sold my gaming computer to use that.

1 long 2 short beeps usually video failure (at least if I remember well from my desktops :)). So I guess warranty time.

Did you get the laptop recently? If so perhaps it was just a one-off case where the person didn't check the connection after not plugging it in correctly. Either way, no skin off anyones back.

Yeah that's strange.. I took away the cable and everything still works. (Just a slightly performance drop in SLI mode.) Perhaps it didn't work because one card was still connected.. ??

Similar issue happened to me, fired the motherboard, had to RMA from Canada. It took them 2 weeks to repair the machine, that is 2 weeks to switch out the motherboard and figure out a graphics card was messed up. (BTW I still don't have my machine, it was sent UPS expedited on the 18th)

I strongly suggest you NOT email them and always call them on the phone, they do not reply to email, its really that simple. Though this is not so effective when they start to screen your calls to avoid talking to you, not that I ever gave them a reason to do that. In the two weeks it was with PCMW I must have called them at most 3 times, and was polite, courteous and understanding till my last call to them. Strongly suggest you use VOIP to call them as they can take them as long as 10 minutes on hold to answer your call.

I've had a really, really **** experience with these guys so far. Everything from order to shipping to RMA within 45 days. I hope things go smoother for you. It may help to tell them there was a guy on NBR from Canada, Saad, who RMA'd an XR5 on the 18th and that you have a similar problem.

I have VOIP and had it for years. :D

But really 45 Days? My RMA with eurocom a while back was 6 days there and back. Do you think I can get a videocard from them and replace it myself?

No no, what I meant was that the system died within 45 days of getting it. RMA work has taken about 2 weeks, my system was sent to them on the 18th of August.

Why should you or anyone else under warranty have to pay for a faulty part out of their own pocket? Just send it back to them and make sure they understand its time critical, not that it will make a difference.

You're in the US so all the customs crap isn't a problem for you, I had to get all the paperwork ready to send my machine back, NAFTA and UPS international shipping and clearance forms. If you were to buy the part from Eurocom you'd have to pay an additional 13% tax over the price of the part, then there is customs and shipping.

Just call PCMW tomorrow (everything is closed for Labour Day) and get an RMA number and send the confounded thing back to them for repairs. Hopefully you'll not get the shaft like I did, there is no way it takes more than 2 days to diagnose a problem and replace a motherboard. I've put together 64 node servers in two days.

    /Saad

Just realized you might be talking about getting the part from PCMW and doing it yourself. The question is: Do you have extended warranty? They do that under Diamond plans (which I have), but they may want to see the machine for themselves.

Wait so I have to pay for a overprice warranty to do that? Might as well back up everything and wait as always. I knew I should of got a gaming laptop again. my last one was a pile of s*** that kept crashing and had more problems then anything else and now this one only 2 months old that already have to be RMA for a videocard. This is the last one "gaming" laptop I'm gonna get.

    Sigh. This sucks.

I feel your pain... Mine was a work machine, my boss has been breathing down my neck since this system got RMA'd.

I put my neck on the line when we bought one of these machines, our lab wanted to buy them directly from Sager - PCMW really burnt me here. You will get no compensation for your loss of time and the inconvenience it will cause. I got the feeling my warranty work was put on the back burner because they were swamped trying to deliver the "Edge" laptop.

I wish PCMW were reading this - if they are: You screwed me over, you know who I am and how to get in touch with me.

Yeah I should of got it from sager even if it was more money. lesson learned from that but still, When I got my HP I didn't plan it to have it for 3 years with no problems and it was only $1500. Now we are talking $3500 laptop that breaks down, kinda sad IMO. Now I heard that nvidia as some bad video card chips on the market listed below.
Now I have the G92-720-A2 Which is not on that list. but could there be more then the list? Also note that these are desktop chips.

offtopic, I think we can put some blame RoHS for these failures. I seem to have more problem ever since it was put in place IMO. Then again it might never be a part of RoHS and I could be full of crap.

That's where most of the blame lies - beyond NVidia's trials and tribulations, a lot of the industry has been having at least minor problems due to the new solders they're forced to use.

Lucky you! I just got my machine back yesterday. Apparently its a new chassis, my old lid was the gaudy carbon fiber one and the new one has the standard brushed metal top - looks much better.

When it arrived it had a 1cm crack on the chassis near the VGA port on the left hand side and the DVD-ROM was not seated properly. This damage was not from shipping as the box is undamaged. Also missing was the HDD connector cables, they must have thought I had them as I had removed the HDD's. I have informed PCMW of these issues and they have made note of the cracked chassis and overnighted me the HDD cables.

What, only the cables? No Super Glue for the crack? :D Anyway I'd check it with an external HDD in the meantime, if there's a crack there's usually a drop so just in case they overnight you the cables just to retake the computer...

I've looked into this... I bet there is going to be a big strain on quality for awhile till this new paradigm is figured out. I hope my GTX280 DOES have lead in it..

GL with that dude. I bet it doesnt, I have a friend that is on the 3rd 8800GT and with a brand new powersupply he still has problems. That why I sold my gaming pc. I wanted to play on my laptop until I got the 4870X2.

You should not be dissapointed with the 4870X2. I swapped out my 8800GTX for a new mobo and two 4870s in crossfire. Could not be happier. Now that the X2 is out, been thinking abut trying a couple of those. I just don't have that much money to throw around at the moment :D

Here is a link to the AMD/ATI forums. You should be able to find some info to help troubleshoot any possible problems. I was reading some where about some possible problems associated with certain motherboards I think.

Sorry to hear that, looks like you are having very similar issues to what I had. PCMW reported a similar problem with my system when they got it in, better off not wasting more time and RMA it.
