    Hi all,

I'm typing this on my Clevo D900C ! (just recieved it today).

I'm unable to activate 8 channel mode via the realtek manager. There's only the option for headphones, 2, 4 and 6 channels (5.1). Isn't the sound chip on the D900C supposed to be able to do 8 channels ?

    Thanks !

I confirm, the chip is theorically 7.1 capable. Realtek manager states it's the ALC883, yet it doesn't show a 8 channel mode...
    I don't get it...

    Any idea, anyone ?

It should be in the RealTek Sound Manager.

I have the older D900K with the option for 8CH.

    Look at attachment.

Here's what mine shows (see screenshot).

I have Realtek HD audio manager version 5.10.0.5377 .
    Should I try updating/reinstalling the driver ?

    Thanks

EDIT: I uninstalled the driver and installed the latest one (5.10.0.5433) and there is still no option for 8 channels.

Well I am not sure why your option does not show up... but should that make a difference?

You realize that the 7.1 (8CH) is with analog speakers right?

I have tested the 5.1 (6CH) with SPDIF out and it sound pretty good compared to doing it with analog speakers using 3 of the ports.

If you want to use the 7.1 that bad, I would recommend to contact your vendor.

Since the 8 channel option does not show up, I guess I'm also limited to 6 channels for digital out too... unless for some reason setting windows in 7.1 mode would at least work for digital out.

Oh well, I can't test that (digital) for now. I might contact the vendor for the analog part.

I won't need that functionality for quite a time, and by then I might get something like this:

    Thank you for your help
