    Hi!
I'm looking for notebook that can handle sound projection and real time editing and tonebox for next 3 years. So I looked at the hi-end, because no big reason to buy every year new notebook for 1500$. So I found two of them one is based on Clevo M570RU it has T7700 CPU ( GPU I don't care too much ) and D900C on Q6700. I know that Q6700 have quad core but how big is reason of those four cores. It will all time be plugged in DC so no care of mobility. So what would you buy in my case - d900c vs m570ru? Maybe there is some other better notebooks?

there's nothing better atm than those 2 notebooks
the advantage off the M570RU is that it's a bit more portable than the D900C, while the D900C is a bit more powerfull

Also, if you think about keeping it plugged in all time, you might want to consider a desktop? Do you have a good reason to buy a notebook instead of a desktop? Cause desktops are a lot cheaper for better specs :)

Yes well you see I'll use them for concerts so it will be plugged in DC while working, but I don't have space for one more desktop.
Will this Quad core power will be much bigger so it's reasonable to buy it or not?

Well, unless you're using software capable of using quad cores, you won't see a big benefit.
It certainly aint worth the extra price IMO :)

And if you want to take it along, the M570RU is the better option for you :)

Thanks. How about this RAM I have heard that windows XP can handle 3Gb. But if I buy 4Gb I can upgrade to Vista when all software is working there and use all 4Gb right?

the memory limitation is NOT dependant on the OS itself
it's the 32bit or the 64bit version that makes the difference

so XP32 can not use 4GB (completely) because of some limitations inherent to 32bit restrictions, but neither can Vista32
however, both XP64 (yes, it exists) and Vista64 will be able to use 4GB completely
as someone posted in a similar thread however, support for XP64 is virtually not-existent, leaving your only option to Vista64 (IF you want to use Windows .. you could research Linux as well of course)
that said: 3GB should be enough for nearly everybody these days, so if you don't require anything special, you could get just 3 GB for now and upgrade when needed :)

D900C or 570RU, depends on what you want to do.

If portability is an issue, then go for the 570RU which weighs 8 lbs. as compared to the bemoth 12 plus pounder D900C.

Looks important? The D900C is a heavy square box. The 570RU is sleek, nice design.

Do you game? Advantage D900C, desktop processor, SLi capability. Most powerful notebook on earth, atm.

Need more than 1 hard drive? Advantage D900C, 3 HD's available.

As to XP or Vista, I wouldn't touch Vista 64 right now until SP1 is released. XP is so much more stable, plus it's SLi proven.

Budget? D900C will cost a li'l more than the 570RU

    That's just a short list.

Ok I got it so I think that better I'll go with D900C because I need desktop replacement. How about upgrades can I upgrade this D900C to 8800 or what will be there out with MXM?

if the 8800M comes out in a current MXM format (MXM-IV most likely) it'll be upgradable :)
