I just realized my D900F is missing a fan, the one the should sit precisely on top of the CPU assembly. There is the air inlet hole, 3 Pin fan electric header, 4 screw sockets for the fan assembly's screws and the heatsink's copper fins sitting right in front with an air outlet vent on the back where the hot air is supposed to come out from. Are all the D900Fs like this or is it me missing this fan? And if all are like this, why isn’t the fan there in the first place? Is there a part that can be bought to put the extra fan there where it should be in the first place?
I also noticed that when maxing the fans (Fn+1) the larger fan on the left which is the main CPU fan rotates much slower than the others and actually blows almost no air out. Why isn't it performing like the others and is there a way to change this?
I render video day and night usually leaving my laptop on all nite crunching data. Cooling for me is of the essence. Anything I can do to keep this thing cooler for me, is golden!
Thanks for the feedback.

Are all the fans used on the D900F 5v by the way? Dont know if there is a standard voltage for laptop fans or not... like on desktops its a given they are all 12v... -

you can try swapping round the fans and see is it just the fan that doesnt spin faster, if it is then its a HW problem , AFAIK all laptop fans are 5v

no, i know the fourth fan isnt there i own a D900F, he said the CPU fan is slower than the others, by swapping it to another power outlet which another was plugged into he can then see if that is the fans maximum spinning speed, pretty common sense i thought...

If you own one then why don't you just tell him it does or doesn't run slower....

I never checked it out, taking it apart and unplugging and plugging fans in isnt what i spend my time doing with my laptop, and as i imagine hes already taken it apart he could easily check whether it runs slower

Its not rocket science...so lets try it so you understand it...
Does.....your......laptop.....fan.....sound.....slower.....than....the.....others? It is a very simple yes....or....no.....question. -
Mutant_Tractor Notebook Evangelist
I...cant...hear...very...much...due...to...the...noise...of...the...fans...collectively, it seems to be slower but then again it runs at the same speed all of the time, it may be a hardware restriction, so if he takes it apart and plugs it into another fan port he can check if it is the fan, or the software
