So Clevo changed the D900F motherboard at one point from a Female jack to a Male jack. As some may know my D900F with the Male jack has a motherboard deader than a doornail. So recently I got my hands on a older D900F board with the Female jack. Unlike my Male Jack unit that has a 300 Watt charger, I only can fit a 220w charger on my Replacement board(haven't even tested it) but I have a question.

Previously I read the jack change was only made as a enhancement to stop breaking charger plugs and there was no major motherboard changes. This is a big deal for me since I was going to use a 680m which requires the higher wattage charger

If I resolder the old jack and solder the male jack from my dead board on, I can still use my 680m right?

Sorry for the annoyance but spending 600$ on a new motherboard is tough especially if this spare board I found actually works(I'll be testing it wensday)

    Thanks everyone

Did you get an answer to your question yet? I still have a working D900F with a 680 in it. I think it has the male jack, but don't quote me on that yet. It's been while since I've touched it. I could dig it out and take a look if you want.

The d900f heatsink is 3 fans wide, it likely won't fit, you probably need an X7200 or P370WM heatsink

I don't have an answer, remember my board has a female jack, I am going to take the male jack and solder it on but am unsure if that will work or if something else was changed that stops the 680m from working like the BS that the D901C had
