I know the machine was having a lot of problems lately, but I didn't think it'd stop being able to boot just like that. Basically, we lost power last night. For a good while. I don't know when it came back, but my computer was OFF (dead battery happened in about 30 seconds when power disappeared). I went to sleep mostly right after, and when I woke up I tried turning it on, and it simply will not. There are three lights under the monitor. The left light is for power, the middle is for battery status and the right is for wifi/bluetooth. Now being off, what's usually displayed is an orange left light and an orange or green middle light (for battery charging and battery full, respectively). It had an orange/green like I expected, but when I hit the power button, the orange power flashes to green (at the same time the wifi/bluetooth flashes orange, which is normal) but then flashes OFF entirely, and then back to orange. The thing is, my mouse lights up signifying power flowing. But the whole thing simply doesn't want to turn on properly. My power button also lights up a blue LED around it when it turns on, and that does not happen either.

Is it that my motherboard is finally dead and I simply need to sit and wait for my next PC to arrive in about 3 weeks? Or is there some way I can squeeze more life out of this old lover of mine for the next month or so?
Note: I have tried taking out the battery then booting. No difference.

Do you know what caused the power outage, was it some type of power surge as that could have damaged the computer. And I assume your power has been restored back to normal right.

could well have been a surge thats knakered something as Hutsady said.

could try a EC and cmos reset.
remove battery and mains and hold power button down for 15 seconds.
then hunt down and remove and put back the cmos battery and then just try mains plug without battery connected.
