Just asked Eurocom if I could use multiple external monitors with my D900F (GTX 280m), but they say it won't work and I need a Dual-or-TripleHead2Go.

Has anyone hacked a driver to make multiple external displays work? It doesn't even need good performance - it will be for WORK. When I play, I will be running a single display.

Also, has anyone found any external screen that is 17" with 1920x1200 like my D900F? If not, has anyone hacked a D900F screen and put it into a box for use as an external monitor? The pixel pitch of monitors these days SUCKS. I want low-pitch screens like my laptops has!

I've tried hooking up both DVI + HDMI out at the same time and it wouldn't work. Bummer. I'd really like a beastly docking station at home for this. Heck, at work even our wimpy 15" Dell Latitudes can handle dual DVI displays from the dock. Seems kind of silly NOT to offer an option like that on a high-end laptop like the D900F.

The cheapest alternative you can get away with is a DisplayLink adapter, which is basically a USB video card. You're limited to USB 2.0 speeds, so you don't get any acceleration, but you can buy one for about $70:

I've got one and it works fine for run-of-the-mill stuff like Microsoft Office. You can tell that even the windowing system has lag though.

Yeah I know I can get a USB device, but :( as if I don't have enough junk hanging off the sides of my laptop. And, I would love to be able to use all the native ports for reduced latency reasons, like you noticed, the USB device lags.

A.) Can my GTX 280m be upgraded? If so,
B.) Would it also have this limitation or not?
