If you are buying a computer that you will be taking all over the place with you this is not the one. There are plenty of laptops out there that are a lot slimmer and lighter, and will even let you play games (not at high res and graphics of course). So please don't know this laptop because it doesn't fit YOUR needs.

This laptop is truly a desktop replacement unit. This laptop will beat out most desktops, I mean what laptop has a quad core available in it? None! This is one of the few laptops that lets you upgrade and customize it to fit your needs for performance. I can't wait to buy one, and I've been looking around at laptops for months now to find the right one.

Argh, I plan on buying this laptop soon and taking it all around with me. I was speaking to the person who says this laptop is too big and wouldn't be great for all around use. I'm actually going to be purchasing this laptop soon and will taking it all around with me. I guess I spoke too strongly in that statement and I apologize for it. I was just irritated at the person bad mouthing this laptop.

I must agree that this laptop is not light enough to take everywhere, sorry. I take it from home to work to home and back again by train and sub (meanwhile throught some meeting-rooms sometimes). I wouldn't imagine myself taking it from home to work, to the gym, then classes and back to home without a car. Or even taking it to a cafe at the weekend as I sometimes do with my Tablet PC.

PS: This thing is huge in comparison with any laptop you ever saw!

It's big and heavy. Once you add incidentals, you are probably arrying 13 or 14 pounds. I currently take it back and forth to Germany twice a month and ocassionally to the office. My shoulder definitely gets sore if I carry it with a shoulder strap. The only way I'd consider hauling it more places is with a good backpack. I haven't found one that fits yet.

It was nice to pull it out at the aiport lounge when I had a 3 hour layover due to a missed connecion. Played HL2 for 2 hours.

First off phule103 thats awesome you played HL2 at the airport, its always nice to keep yourself entertained while waiting at a airport!

I'm definitely going to look at backpacks and find out peoples opinions when I purchase this laptop. It does seem like it would be a pain to carry it on a shoulder bag all the time, especially for a long period of time. I know once I carried two shoulder bags because I had to take two laptops with me and it was annoying after a bit.

Jeez, the more and more I talk about this laptop the more I want to order it right now! :D

Yep it was good, even if I did get some odd looks. It made the time go a lot more quickly.

A laptop over each shoulder? :eek2:

As for buying, Resistance is futile. Assimiilate!

Don't worry I will be buying this laptop very soon. There's just two things that are keeping me from buying it at the moment. 1-I need to save a little more money to get the config I want. 2-I'm debating waiting for the 8800 to come out. I want DX10, but at the same time a graphics card that will last me for 3 years and I'm iffy about the 2x 8700GT SLI and how they perform and will perform over the next 3 years.

PS. I had both laptop bags over one shoulder, so at least I'll have some training before I carry this bad boy around when I get it.

 Training is good. I was concerned about the video cards also, but didn't really want to wait any logner. A week after I got my system they announced the 901 and quad core. Oh well. :spinny: DX 10 will be nice in the future. I think the 7950s will do reasonably well for a year or 2 if I ccan ever get the right bloody drivers.

DRIVERS. There lies the culprit that does not make me recommend with all due certain one or the other. I'm certain that the Go 7950 GTX is faster then the 8700M GT but official support for the first suck (the official drivers version is still way behind the new ones coming out). The later has still a lot to prove in the other side and will for sure get better support.

And we all know that NVIDIA likes to publish drivers especially tuned for certain games. The question is will they work well with the Go 7950 GTX since it is a mobile card, and we all know that NVIDIA doesn't usually support them well.
