I just noticed that.
This SUX. My mouse goes on the right side. why in the hell would they put USB ports on the right side.
This has got to be the DUMBEST thing I have ever seen!!!!
This Could break the Deal for me.
How the hell am I suppostu use my mouse? it sticks out the same side I use the mouse on????
USB Fricken ports belong on the back!
I seriously will not be able to use a right hand mouse?
the mouse I has is cordless and the stick sticks out the back/side, but not the right side.
The other thing that sux *** is that the Audio ports are in the front.
Jebus Chr1st!
They got the smarted peeps to create this laptop and for Peripherals, huh?
I seriously love this notebook but you have got to be kidding me!
how am I suppostu use my house on the right side and have all my USB periphs going off on the same side and the plugs for my 5.1 etc going out the front and poking my chest and bending all around to the back.
/me throws anvil at CLEVO.
Lets design the best house on earth and put the doors 10 feet in the air with no stairs.
I just noticed from reading more that there is another issue with multiple keystrokes in gaming *pressing more than 2 at a time like in CSS/bf2 etc.)
that completely blows!!!
how can you have a gaming rig with issues like that.
lets create the best motorcycle on earth but make it unable to turn left.
/rant over.

I suggest the Logitech VX Nano as a possible solution to your problem, at least when it comes to the mouse.
However, as a left handed person, I quite enjoy the design of that computer. End of the Righty Oppression!
... Or something like that. -
thanks, I Could easily go for that. but I want a regular size mouse.
that mouse is nano too.
the audio ports are very stupid to have in the front. but I could deal with that.. sortove....
the USB on the right tho.. pushes me closer to the m1730. and back to dell.
http://www.notebookreview.com/assets/26898.jpg
that is what the left side should look like. -
Go for the dell then. It's an annoyance to have all the USB ports on the right side but it's not a deal breaker. I plug my mouse in and I'm right handed. No problems.
-
The only problem I have is that the ports are all right next to each other, so it's a bit difficult to plug my flash drive in at the same time as my mouse and external sound card. -
the sound ports in the front are annoying too.
I am just saying cuz I havent spent the cash yet.
people who have bought it don't have the choice anymore.
I really do love this notebook. I am just finding things out and am ajusting because of it.
I suppose things are the way they are and I must ajust to it.
I really don't want to go Dell.
This just puts things in perspective. -
The notebook is far from perfect...says the owner of one for 6 months now. I wish it had a different finish. I hate the piano finish. I wish the ports were a bit more spread out but I do understand them not being able to be put on the back. I wish it had a HDMI vs the DVI out. But you know what? When playing a game at high res i tend to forget most of the annoyances.
-
I totally agree.
I have maxxed out my XPS, I litterally blew my 130w PSU cuz I OC'd my card to hell and was playing crysis @1600x900, getting 30fps+ i might add.
and melty melty.
I want something with RAW power.
even though my oc'd 7900gtx kills the m1730 @resolutions over 1440.
cuz the 8700 has a restricted bus. -
you are exactly right. i have *****ed about the same things. these are deal breakers for right handers. your right hand will have to be 2 feet from the right side of the notebook when playing games, and looking like a retard, or else you will be ramming the usb ports and potentially cause damage. you have to be carefull not to have your forearms snap anything connected to the audio ports while you type on the keyboard.
this laptop is best used by connecting external peripherals (monitor, mouse, keyboard, sound options) and leaving it off on the side so it will not interfere.....oh wait, i just described a desktop, not a laptop.
-
I just use a USB hub and only have to deal with 1 connector. As for the audio in the front I like that. But it would be nice if just 1 usb port was on the other side.
-
that one connector still forces your right hand 2 feet away from it.
-
Interesting that you guys find it that large of a flaw... its a bit annoying... but...
I tested a unit and did not notice at all after an hour of use. Because I tested it on my Zalman ZM-NC1000 and it raised the system to a decent height with a good tilt.
So I did not even notice about the whole right-handed gaming mouse issue... since the mouse didnt even bump into the connector w/ the system being raised by the cooler.
In any case, I still recommend to use the system with a cooler over to optimize the cooling. -
these are real issues.
my XPS is designed vry good 2usb on the left hand side and 4 on the back for a total of 6 ports.
so you have the option of back/side. but none on the right. and having all on the right is kinda stupid. -
I am going to have to litterally find a way to Modify.
I would even remove the 4 ports somehow and put the elseware.
or modify it so I can have 1 port wired to the back or just hanging out a hole drilled in the back.
I could do that too. -
it's heavy enough to lug around with battery and power brick i think. i do not find laptop coolers to be necessary nor a solution as no laptop on the market requires them to operate normally.
-
just prop some bottlecaps below the rear.
my m1710 gets 98 degrees Cels. when playing crysis -
we are not talking about normal laptops.
Gaming notebooks are still a new thing.
... so you cannot have the mindset of "they are fine without any help"
That is when people come back in less than a year complaining that their gaming notebook died due to overheats... and dust clogs (most of which probably became condensed due to heat) -
I agree, I keep my laptop in 100% tuned.
I Arctic Silver my GPU every few months, and CPU
I take the whole thing apart and clean every thing out of it (dus and dirt) -
good man dexgo.
So do I, and my notebook is as healthy as when I built it in March 2006. -
Actually on the 9261 there is no other place I can see to put the ports. Every inch on the back is a heat sink. The left is covered with connectors of some sort. Good luck!
-
its easier to just get an ExpressCard that has USB ports... then you will have USB ports on the left of the notebook w/o having to mod the chassis.
-
Leave him alone Gophn I wanted to see the mod done.
I really don't see why this is that big of an issue. It is not really in the way.
-
you make it sound like it's a requirement to operate a gaming laptop with a notebook cooler. it's not. if it was don't you think the odm and notebook retailers like sager would be selling them or making them a requirement? -
-
I was going to get an expresscard to have my audio on the left, so i suppose it's a toss-up -
expresscard audio is under par at the moment... the quality for the money is not worth it.
The on-board audio is perfectly fine, just optimize the software settings for it.
Or get a USB sound card (a pro version is best for music and such, like M-Audio Transit)... which can be plugged into your USB expresscard -
I use a 2k Home theatre Receiver with Onboard Post Processing and PCM capabilities.
anything I output is to that. and sounds great. I know the expresscard doesn't do any onboard processing and sux, I just want something that gives me spdif on the side not the front cuz it's freaking awkward.
is there a Svideo/Composite/Spdiff digital coax dongle that goes into the S-Video port on the back like Dell has?
it's nice cuz I can plug into the back and the use Coax to my Receiver and it matrixes all sound fully processed and great to 5.1 -
LOL. Thats why I have my M-Audio external soundcards... both for USB and Firewire.
They are better than any Creative X-Fi for overall sound quality when connecting through SPDIF or Optical to a receiver.
A number of our members got the M-Audio Transit which works great since its ultraportable for a professional quality sound card.
D900c, Usb Ports On Right Side????? Wtf!!!!!!
