    i have a d900k with 7950gtx using 1920x1200 screen running on winxp32.
i hooked up my d900k to an external monitor (old sony 200es) so that i can have my email, browse web, stream movies.. etc on the other monitor while playing games on my d900k screen.

well today, while playing the d900k screen started acting up.. lines across the screen, graphics breaking up and flickering.. then it froze. i rebooted and was getting multicolored squares and letters where off during post. when i gets to loading windows right before you picking the account it would just be blank.

check cpu and video card, cleaned vents, put new thermal paste.. powered up and same thing.

rebooted to go to safe mode... had the same issue during post.. but when it during the windows safe mode, everything was fine.. graphics was clean. so i thought maybe my drivers got messed up. uninstalled drivers, booted to reg widows without the video drivers.. it was messed up during post but once it loaded windows graphics was good. installed the drivers.. everything was normal, rebooted when installation was finished.... and same problem, messed up during post, and blank screen when windows tried to load.

so basically, during post i get a messed up screen, and get a blank screen when it's loading windows, works fine when loading safe mode or when loading without drivers. I even reflashed the bios just incase it got corrupted.

checked the device manager and it was showing me 3 default monitors - which was strange.. seems to not recognize my d900k screen or my external monitor. tried uninstalling them and then reinstall the video drivers.. still no go.

so now i'm stuck running without any drivers till i get this figured out...
i welcome any ideas you all might have.

    thanks

Welcome to the NBR forums. :)

was that the first time (a long time since the previous time) you cleaned out the videocard?

if so, then that could explain your issue since it might have gotten permanent overheating damage from prolonged overheating.... meaning that cleaning it out now may have been too late.

    if not....

then you should check the LCD cables to see if they are secured or damaged.

    thanks for response

you might be right about the permanent overheating - i has locked up a few times couple of months ago - and i just blew out the vents and been okay since then.. but it's been almost a year since i've reapplied thermal paste.

    i'll check the cables tonight.

on another note - just to see what happens, i swapped out another set of HD's and installed vista ultimate - same issue, messed up screen during post but okay once it loaded vista. good at safe mode and without the drivers but when i install the drivers i get bsod..

it's starting to sound like my video card fried... which sucks, i don't think anyone still sells these type of video cards.

    thanks again

I do not think it can get repaired anymore.

you can try and contact a Clevo service center (on Clevo's website)... but the module is discontinued and it will probably not be worth it to repair it.
