My old workhorse D901C has been doing quite well and still goes and blows. Of course it is fully tricked out. However, I started losing the time and date, so I know the CMOS battery has finally failed. I have obtained replacements. However, as this is not a user replaceable part, there are no official instructions on how to open the computer up and replace the battery. I do know the CMOS battery is located above the MoBo to the left of the touch pad, but I cannot figure out for the life of me how to open up the computer to get to it, and I don't want to force anything for fear of breaking the case. Can anyone tell me step by step how to open up the unit so that I can get to the CMOS battery? Many thanks in advance.

Have you tried putting in "D901C service manual" into google? ;)

Yes I have. However, the CMOS battery is not a "user replacement part", as Sager likes to say, therefore the manual has no instructions on how to get to it. There are exploded parts views of the computer, but they are so complicated that I cannot make out what screws I have to take out. I am trying to separate the top case off of the computer MoBo, but after taking out all of the appropriate screws I can find, it still won't come apart, and It seems that maybe there is a snap-on part or something like that still holding it together, but I don't want to break anything. So I would like to know exactly how to separate the top case off of the computer, or find the screws I am missing that need removing. I just cannot figure this out, I'm afraid.

    Sorry, Meaker,

I can take the keyboard off and then take the shielding below it off. There I can see the LAN and Bluetooth modules. But the plug belonging of the CMOS battery is buried down below that bottom edge of the hole where the keyboard sits on the top case to where you can't see it or get to it. There is something holding the case together right in the bottom center above the four jacks in the front of the case. There is no screw there I can see to remove. It will not budge in any direction that I try, but again I don't want to get too forceful with it as I am afraid I will break it. There has to be a way to allow the top case to separate and allow it to lift off of the MoBo below it. From what I can see, that's the only way I can get to the CMOS battery. I know there are people out there who have replaced the CMOS battery in this computer. I was just hoping one of them could tell me how the did it.

I too need to replace my battery in my Sager 9261/ 9262. However I have not been able to even locate a replacement battery as of yet. Does anyone know where to purchase a NEW not used CMOS Battery specific to the Sager 9262/ Clevo 901C motherboard?

and a shout to jeriddan...have you figured out how to get to it yet? I have gotten exactly where you have gotten in the dismantlement process 2 times and have given up both times. I figured I would next...try and find one before I attempt it again.
