 Hopefully my last thread on my imminent purchase, but since it's going to cost quite some money I want to be sure I won't end up with a notebook crashing every 20 minutes...

    The relevant specs are:
    Q9450
    4GB RAM
    2 x 8800M GTX SLi
    2 x 120GB 7200rpm HDD's in RAID 0.

I do not plan to overclock...

The thing is that in summer it's very warm here.

I'll always be operating the notebook indoors in air-conditioned rooms, however even indoors the ambient temperature is around 27 C / 80 F.

Do you think I'm inviting trouble and disappointment?
    (Hopes not and crosses fingers)

yes, prepare for newclear fallout :D
i get messages when ever my HD goes above 55 C and i think you need to worry when it get like 90 C so as long as you dont have it on 24/7 i think everything should be okay.

do what i did mate and purchase a notebook cooler preferably the Zalman NC2000. aussie summers are notoriously hot (37 -40 degrees with ambient temps around the 30 degree mark) and my laptop still stays around 48-50 degrees Celcius at idle and grafix temps rarely get above 65 during gaming.

dazzyd: 48-50 idle is the CPU temperature?

Wouldn't that be highish still, or is it something to be expected from a notebook?
(This is going to be my first notebook).

On the other hand, 65 degrees for the GPU during gaming is very nice and cool. My (desktop) 8800GT reaches 78 during Crysis!!

yes below 50 for CPU is considered cool for laptops dont forget you have limited amount of space in the laptop than u do in a desktop case and you have a quad core too. trust me the fans on this beast keeps it really cool.

Also the 9262 has the best built in notebook cooling system period.. so with a laptop cooler you don't have to worry.

So by the suggestions I understand that my notebook will be crashing if I don't purchase the Zalman NC2000?

Or will it work, just run a little bit warmer?

haha no it wont crash if oyu dont get the zalman but it will run a lil bit hotter. with the zalman your pretty much reducing your average ambient and load temps by about 5-7 degrees. this includes your cpu and GPU
