What is the latest BIOS for the D901C and where do you download it from? Also instructions on how, as there is no floppy I guess from a bootable USB key, yeah?

Reason I'm asking is because I've had unpredictable freezes and crashes with my laptop from new. Usually nothing is reported in the Event Viewer (Running XP SP3) but one time it did catch something so I let it go online to get a report. It came back saying the BIOS doesn't officially support the processor in my machine (X3360.)

Sounds similar to the last post in this thread.

Also seen BIOS 17a in there (mine is 16a currently) is that still the latest?

As to heat issues, something seems weird. Often the area above the CD drive is hot to the touch, even when the machine has only been idling (nothing running but couple of web pages open and Winamp stopped from having music on when I went to bed) yet it still sometimes runs hot at random. In Cupid HWMonitor the THM0 is the hottest temperature reading, often cycling between 55 and a little over 60 (where the fan cuts in briefly) and the cycle continues. This is when it's running hot to the touch, when it's not THM0 is still usually reported at 5 degrees or so above the temperature of any core of the processor.

Also had a video problem when I firt got it and traced this to the connector to the LCD. Have a little piece of foam keeping that connection tight and it has worked for months with no fault (well once in six months when it was doing it often multiple times a day before I put it there.) Any likely adverse affects from an inch sized piece of foam where the screen connectors are? Sometimes feels warmer than it should on the case around there too...

I have had the same random crashing problem with my D901C. It turns out that everytime I run Orthos on my CPU, it crashes after 10 seconds. This has occured through multiple clean installs and driver versions.

I also get the heat problem and my fans run crazy for a couple of seconds, even when I am just browsing the web. I am pretty sure it is a hardware problem though. I might get mine RMA'd, but if a BIOS update can fix it, please post back so I can try it out.

However, my BIOS is at least version .20 because my CPU is the Q9550 which was only recently supported.
