So, recently it took some time to get xp 64 running with my quad core, sli, clevo D901C.

It might become even more difficult with openSUSE to find the correct drivers (if they exist).
As I will have to do scientific calculations I somehow will have to get SUSE running (its all linux based).
Searching on the net didn`t give me any success.
So, has anybody experience with the newest clevo and SUSE?

Any advice would be heavily appreciated!

    Thanks!

I haven't seen anything on Suse yet, but people have been having luck with Ubuntu. So iwould say that the chances are good for it. Hopefully I cna get a good 7.10 .iso tonight and try it out tomorrow.

yes, Ubuntu is currently growing fast, but there`s much hype about it, so don`t expect too much. Nevertheless its, of course, better then the commercial MS crap.

My brother is a SUSE specialist and SUSE is a really great and well developed package, so its no question to me which linux distribution I will have to favour

Actually I have been using Ubuntu for 6months or so. After using slack and Fedora for over 10 years I have to so they have done a good job with it. Actually it has kind of taken the fun out of linux.

I am going to attempt 7.10 tonight my time. I will post back on any issues I encounter. I finally got a good .iso yesterday but I got busy doing other things.

    @ kl5167:

I decided to start with Kubuntu, as I don`t like Novells partnership with Microsoft!

As I don`t have any knowledge of Linux, could you tell me where I can get all the necessary drivers?

    many thanks for that!

I booted the live cd and everything worked out of the box for me. You will have to enable the the restricted drivers manager if it doesn't do this for you. You won't be able to do this from the live CD. I think you need to use the alternate cd as well to install. It didn't recognize my raid partition right. Sorry I haven't had a chance to do the install on mine. I have been swamped at work. I should have to do this sometime this week I hope. Maybe today/tonight.
