My head hearts. I've been surfing for several days to look for the best deal for the D901C. I got the conclusion that the best is to buy a barebone from rj and the rest from near my home (I leave in finland).
If I do this how do I know which are the compents that fit in the laptop?
Would it be easy to find hdd and memory for the D901C in Europe?
Are they the same as the desktop?
Some resellers offer the laptop with the q9450 or the E8400. Would I be able to install one of those?
Thanks for your answers,
Pasoleatis

The CPUs are the same as the desktop ones (Core 2 Quad Q6600/Q6700 etc.), the HDDs are laptop HDDs and the memory is SODIMM (laptop memory).

Just look at my signature... I did the same...

Thanks for your answers. Some guy rumored on the forum that the 45 nm procs are supported with a BIOS update. I was wondering if all the sold D901C have this update.
-
Nobody knows yet if they have Penryn support.

@Fadetoblack:
That's not entirely true. Right now, Clevo reports that there are several known issues with the 45 nm processors. They have not started working on a fix at this time, however, because the issue is not as important as (finally) getting SLi working. Once the WHQL certified SLi drivers are released, there's a good chance we'll hear more about the possibility of using the 45 nm processors in the NP9262, and/or what it will take in order to get compatibility up to snuff. -
Thanks for your answers. I understand that D901C was made gaming, but personally I would be more than happy with a laptop with a 45 nm quad and the 8800 GTX (no SLI).

Eleison, I was referring to the fact that I do not know if there is a public BIOS release supporting them.
pasoleatis, the first affordable quad core CPU for notebooks (not a desktop CPU) will be released in Q4 08 or Q1 09. The first quad core will be released in Q3 08, but it will be an extreme edition CPU, therefore costing 1k+. -
I was reffering to the desktop 45nm processors. They allways put out more power than the their laptop version
-
Obviously they do. The CPUs are on the market and Clevo (probably) only needs a new BIOS build.

@pasoleatis:
Honestly, there are more than a few people who agree with you. From Clevo's perspective, however, it's more important to get a promised feature working than it is to add a new feature (one of the big draws from the D90xC has been SLi from the very beginning, so if an update breaks that feature, it takes top priority).
We're all very interested to see what happens once the WHQL certified SLi drivers are released.
