the processor is upgradeable to a q9650, and the gfx card to a 9800M GTX (or 2 in sli) but theres no guarantees that any new gfx cards will be compatible.

The hard drives and ram can also be upgraded

None of the upgradable parts should be soldered on.

yes, you can upgrade to a qx9650 if you wanted too.
vga is upgradeable. the problem now would be...if they came with a compatible modle above the 9800m gtx with the same or lower tdp rating.

The point about the GPUs should really be emphasized - when these systems are advertised as having GPUs that are "user upgradeable" the only thing that means is that you, the user, can remove the GPU that you originally buy with the computer, and you, the user, can put that same GPU back in, or you can put another copy of the identical GPU back in, or, if more than one GPU was offered when you made your purchase, say GPUs A, B, and C, then you, the user, can put in any A, B, or C GPU but not anything else.

If that list of possible GPUs is going to be expanded, Clevo will eventually get around to saying so; however, until Clevo actually says so, you should operate on the assumption that no other GPU that was not on the list when you bought your system will fit into your computer - unless, that is, you're willing to experiment and can accept an experiment that turns out badly, in which case, you're on your own, but then again, that's exactly where you wanted to be anyway. :D

    ^^ yup.

The MXM Type IV slot is the latest mobile graphics card standard.

its will be up to Nvidia to continue releasing more videocard modules for it.

I am planning to pull the E8400 from mine and replace it with a E8600 this week. Will report whether there is an issue or not in the case of this Laptop. It is updated [by Sager] to 8800s, but I am not sure that the newest CPUs or the 9800GTX will work on it without a bios update.... Hoping...

Sager indicate that they need it returned for an update to 9800GTX BTW... But the CPU was unclear, hence the test first by me...

Completed install of E8600 today, replacing the existing E8400. The D901C has 17a level Bios. No problems that I can see, CPU is correctly detected and System Information shows the correct information. WPrime runs at 22.7 seconds. Posted in case someone else is looking to do the same upgrade, it's painless.
