Hey guys. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me whether D901c can be upgraded to core i7 9**
    has anyone done this before?
    My spec:
    N9262
    4gb, q6700, 8800mGTX 512MB
I am also thinking abt upgrading to 280M 1gb.
    http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/
according to this website, it will work on D901c and d900c

    THX!!

It's not compatible with i7 processors, and I don't personally know of anyone who has upgraded to GTX 200M chips, but it may work.

It does work with the 280M, but not in SLI.

As long as it has BIOS support, then yes.

The highest processor the D901C can take is the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 @ 3.0 GHz (you'll need BIOS .22 and KBC/EC .13N).

A GTX 280m might work, so long as it is the MXM 2.1 version (I think?). As stated above, it won't work in SLi however. Although you could use the 280m as your primary GPU, and the 8800m GTX as a dedicated PhysX PPU.

Only the D901C and D900F can take desktop processors. Everything else needs a mobile CPU.

If you want to put i7 you have to change the MB and make new holes in the case.

Q9650 - Yes. Swap it out just the same way you would swap out a desktop CPU. Remember to use thermal paste. I used Arctic Cooling MX-3 on mine.

8800m PPU - Yes. Swap the 8800m to the other GPU slot, and then use the primary slot (where the 8800m GTX used to be) for the GTX 280m. Once you go to install drivers and everything is set up, you will see that the Nvidia control panel will use the 8800m GTX solely for PhysX/CUDA processing, and the more powerful GTX 280m will be used for everything else.

For all of this, I'd highly recommend studying the service manual for the D900C. therik0 has them linked in his sig.

I think the driver will automatically install 2 video cards and then the PhysX is acivated from the control panel. The game also has to support phuysx, so you would have to go to nvidia website and downlaod the patches for the games you want to play with physx. Without the dedicated card for PhysX the job is done by the processor.

A 280m GTX will perform in games as 2 8800gtx in SLI or close to them.

i thought i have to flash the d900f bios or sth. LOL
    thats a lot simpler.
i m pretty sure i have the latest bios, ie the dec 08 one on my d901c. do i still need to flash the KBC/EC thing? if so. where can i download it? or is it included in the bios update on clevo's website?
    Thanks so much!

If you have the latest BIOS probably you have also the latest KBC/EC. When your computer boots press the version are shown, if you are fast enough you can see it.
