My D901c (single 9800m GTX and 1920x1200 LCD) recently developed a very weird screen flicker. Whenever the image onscreen is mostly black, the bottom and top third start flickering rapidly between black and white. I'm not sure what's causing it. Could my LCD be bad? If so, is there anyway that can be replaced by the user? I don't really want to send it in for service since I start classes in a few days and my D901c is my main work computer (I'm also not under parts warranty anymore).
I'm in the process of updating the graphics driver right now to see if that helps, though I doubt that's the problem since I've been running with my current driver for several months and haven't had the flickering problem until now. Could it be my graphics card? I may try re-seating it to see if that helps. I think it's cooling fine. Temps rarely get above mid to high-60s Celsius under load, and the flickering sometimes occurs when idle. Those temps are well within tolerance, yes?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

A friend of mines Laptop started doing that. His was an Asus.
Funny, A few weeks later the video card went all CAPUT!
Not saying it will happen to yous, but that's what his did. Asus warrantied it (he had it for like 2 years *shrug*) and gave him a new Laptop. -
Driver update didn't correct the problem. I'm thinking it's probably the LCD and not the graphics card since I don't get the same problem on an external monitor hooked up to the computer.

true, but then again, the output on the gpu for the lcd maybe shorting out. would explain why the output for the external still working. it can happen.
only way to really check i guess is to hook that lcd to another laptop. -
Hi, I've had problems over the years with my D901c LCD screen and its associated parts.
There is a fair few threads on this forum about these sort of problems. Have you read this one (my post):

Check your LCD video cable first, it may that it is getting pinched by the left hinge. Easily fixed by moving the cable ribbon back into the right position.
If you do think that your LCD is defective, you can buy a compatible one on Ebay, for the D901c. Replacing the screen yourself is very doable. Note that a new LCD screen should definitely come with a backlight, but is not sold with a new video cable, so try and pin down the fault first.
About a new LCD. Even though I bought the same resolution LCD (by luck was the same brand too - Samsung) I had to mess around a lot with the colour calibration to get it right. I don't remember having to do this with my old native screen.
