So, Got some OCZ Ram, (4gb 800mhz) put it in in late september, Faster, no problems, etc... life is good...

TODAY... on startup (like as its counting the ram, the very initial post screen) I got two quick beeps, and an error (forgot exact words) about error in additional Ram, or something like that. F1, resume, F2, setup. I always hit F2, go to bios, check everything. "exit without saving" and computer restarts, Normal as can be... ? any idea?

P.S. Its finals week, and i need my computer ON!... so, that means unless i get a blue screen (which i have never gotten before, and still havent) I really dont wanna risk restarting it to do both Memtest and the memory diagnostic tool of windows.

So, You guys think this was one time deal, or my RAM is gonna be a S**Tshow when i put it through memtest. (BTW, i ran memtest 3 times in a row when I first got the RAM and no errors) that was 2 months ago

First, don't panic. Second, make sure you've got your towel. Third, try resetting the RAM first to see if that helps. Fourth, run some memory diagnostics to see if anything crops up.

some BIOS's will give you beeps if it detects a hardware change... like additonal memory.... and will prompt you to continue.

you can just run a MemTest86+ to make sure there are no errors to be safe.

Since I asked the question in that old thread, I'll ask it here again: do you have any USB devices attached when you boot the system up? If you do, disconnect all of them and see if you can still replicate the error or not.

well, i USED to, recently my mouse (mx510) was going in and out and i think it was a USB voltage issue. I recently go a mx518, its at home tho. I do however have my NC2000 always hooked up. Which, can affect it i supposed. But i kno that thing takes so little power, i doubt its afffecting the ram... it doesnt even need memory, just power.

Still, disconnect the NC2000 and see if you can replicate the error. The point here is that the mere fact that the cooler is drawing power from the USB port, and might be causing power faults (surges, etc) if it's slipping in and out of contact, might be enough to trigger issues with mapping the legacy hole in memory that, if memory serves me (pun intended :D), was my best guess at the source of the problem in that old thread.
