    Hello all

I own a D901c for something like 3 years now, i love the machine even with all the problems i had so far, random beeping at first, then was the screen flicker problem which i open from time to time mess around with the cables and it stays good for 1 or 2 months, and i even have baked my GPU quite a few times.

Some months ago i noticed that my key 4 ( left arrow ) from the numpad stopped working, i didn't care about it much because it's not a key i use that often (well i actually need sometimes but nothing i couldn't make my way around it)

Now suddenly yesterday after watching a movie ( with the brightness on it's minimum setting fn+f8 )before i went to sleep the battery discharged and the computer turned off, so far al perfectly normal, but then when i woke up today and tried to turn the brightness up ( fn +F9 ) nothing happens.

After a bit of debugging i concluded that F9 and F10 went as dead as the numpad 4 key, now this is a major problem because those keys are assigned to brightness UP and toggle cam on/off.

After some experiments with virtual keyboards either in ubuntu or windows i couldn't make either of those functions to trigger, i even tried with a usb keyboard while pressing Fn on the laptop and F9 on the external one ( i know it was a matter of despair i wouldn't expect it to work but had to try).

From there on i removed the keyboard and tear apart the F9 key, well the key looks fine to me, is as the other working keys ( regarding mechanics ), i tried pressing the rubber down with the keyboard on, tried a metallic piece to make contact and nothing worked.

So i kind of conclude that there is nothing wrong with the keyboard and must be something internal which i have no idea what it is.

Here go a couple of questions.

Did any of you D901c owners have problems with dead keys?
Is there anyway to turn up the monitor brightness without this shortcut?
Do you guys think it could be the keyboard or is something internal?
Is it easy to find a D901c keyboard replacement?

Any help would be very appreciated, specially regarding alternative ways of turning the brightness up.

Just to say that i bought a new keyboard that cost 42€ and the keys are all working fine :) wooofff

Now i really haven't find anything wrong (mechanical speaking with) the keys rubber and plastics are all good, maybe it has something to do with the flat cable i don't know anyway i am very happy that all is now working fine although i am poorer.
