Hello again, I'm having a very weird noise issue..
When I load up certain games, I get a very distracting high pitched noise from the laptop. It doesn't happen with all games, just certain ones. Also, it only happens during the title screen for one game.
Does anyone know what the hell this is?
I'm also pretty sure that this happened with the last d900c that I had right before the video card had a pipleline fry.

do you monitor the temps... because you should to make sure that there is not overheating.
-
Yeah the temps are all under 55c under max load.
-
so its not that....
have you cleaned out your fans and vents monthly? -
Haven't even had it that long, going on my 2nd week here in a few days
-
if thats the case... the high pitch noise can be coming from the CPU or another internal device.
some have disabled the bluetooth and/or the turbo memory to remedy such an issue. -
It definitely comes from the GPU or CPU. I have encountered this in many laptops before, primarily the dell M1330 and M1530 which are CPU related.
This occurs when the CPU is at max and on THOSE laptops, I was able to reduce the noise immediately by changing from "performance" to "balanced" or "power saver" in the vista settings.
The noise does not vary with volume.
I do hear it on my D901C as well. I am not sure if it has always been there but it is definitely there now.
I have recently cleaned it. I don't believe it has anything to do with heat.
The severity of the noise varies with each game, the worst one I've seen is the Crysis, which also has it on the menu ( weird )
However, the only time I notice it, is when I have the volume low on the laptop and I have external speakers connected.
For me, I have to put my ear up to the left speaker in order to hear the noise when I'm not using any headphones/external speakers. -
I know what you mean. I also have these high pitch sounds coming from the GPU (at least I hear it from the left side) when I do modeling and rendering with blender3D. ( its not the fan, it only happens when I change the camera and the scene gets re-rendered).
It does not annoy me much since most of the time I wear my headphones.
And I don't think a driver would resolve it, but who knows... -
You should also check if it's the AC adapter making any high pitched noise. There was an older thread floating around somewhere on the forums that addressed this concern. Although apparently it seems to be normal for adapter to make "buzzing" or other high pitched noises during loading of games and such. Anyways, might be worth while to put your ear close to it (not on it!) and see if this is where the noise is coming from.
