Hi there, never posted complete benchs neither pics of my rig so here it is. Specs are on the sig and the video drivers used were 169.17 (overclocked).

The components where monitored while playing COD4 for an hour. I don't know why the FPS graph is not there but it was being shown during the game. Anyway, I would get something between 55 and 68 FPSs at 1600x1200.

Jeez, nice getup lol
-
very nice!!!

There are a few benchmarks out there that go over the 11k barrier, but you`re pretty close. That thing is both a beast and a money eating machine
-
11k barrier @1280.. who the hell games @ 1280x1024 anyways really.
it's a crappy benchmark,
turn it up to 1900x1200 or 1680x1050. thats a benchmark. -
-
Nice Setup and Benchys.
I cannot wait for my xr5 to come in. -
How are you getting processor temps in Rivatuner??
Nice setup by the way..

darn..those numbers look impressive..I REALLY wish I had cash to buy one of those monsters right now..but on the other hand it gives me a chace to wait fot AW m17x..and it might be almost the same monster D900C is now..with a case that is 2 lbs lighter..
..I know I'll be missing GREAT XoticPc/PowerNotebooks customer service..but having machine that has portability of 5790 and power of 9260 is more than one can wish for... -
the cinebench openGL result is quite bad.
I get continuously 4400-4700. -
As for the resolution being low, well it is the standard 3DMark06 resolutions for test. If your lappy does not get even in such resolution these kind of values, at higher resolutions the gap will be even more.
Temps in Riva Tuner? In the 3d Guro website there is a pluggin that you can download and install. Just google fr Riva Tunner CPU Temperature Monitor.
Updated the temperature monitoring graph to show values during the game play. The components where monitored while playing COD4 for an hour. I don't know why the FPS graph is not there but it was being shown during the game. Anyway, I was getting something between 55 and 68 FPSs at 1600x1200 with all settings as high as possible including Anisotropic and AA (Multiplayer Match).
Stay cool,
Trance
PS: If you want 3DMark06 scores at other resolutions you can buy me the 3DMark06 Pro Version. Then I'll be glad to attend all of your requests -
With the normal laptop 169.04 its around 4300 and a little bit higher with a modded version.. -
Yeah, i heard that the 169.04 drivers are pretty fast. Maybe I should use them.

i am using 169.04 and it works fine i get 3dmark06 score of 10221 with rivertuner at
core= 756
shadder= 1512
mem=951
im very happy with it i was going to install the 169.09 but i'm happy with this driver right now -
I already found the plugin.. After I saw your post... Works great for gaming...
I also noticed that it gives the same values as Everest does...
I use the 169.04 drivers and I think everybody saw my score of over 11k.
After hours of playing crysis with max fans, the parent card barely hits 70 degrees.....
I would definitely raise the shader...

Hi Joe,
Mine rarely goes over 62º C, but then I have a Q6600 rather then Q6700.

PS: By the way coincidence ot not we both use the same settings. I can rise it more but like it is ok for now (see my temp graph). -
how would it be as strong as the 9260? I guess it does have SLI 8800's though. -
i notice you are using a notebook cooler to lift the latpop and operate the mouse on the right hand side. can you tell me if you are still able to operate the mouse on the right hand side, with it being that close to the laptpot, without the laptop cooler? i am curous if the usb ports get in the way for right handers. also, do the audio jacks get in your way with them being up front?
-
Hi Argh,
"can you tell me if you are still able to operate the mouse on the right hand side, with it being that close to the laptpot, without the laptop cooler?"
Yes you can operate the mouse normally without the notebook cooler. That is how I have it at work. At home don't use the notebookcooler to lift the notebook and create space for the mouse but actually to give the notebook more airflow while gaming.
"also, do the audio jacks get in your way with them being up front?"
The headphones on the picture are 5.1 so they actually use 3 jacks in the front plus an USB port to power the integrated amplifier. Not a good set for work & music but great from gaming and movies (there are just too many cables in the front). So for work I use a standard small set of shenneizer headphones or earbuds and it is just great (one cable doe it all).
Also notice the 4 USB ports are actually being used: One for the mouse, another one for the awesome belkin N52 game key pad (on the left), another to power the notebook cooler and another to power the headphones (I still have one left in the notebook cooler just in case).

i would think your right hand is at least 1 foot from the right side of the laptop (without lifting the notebook) so you do not collide with the usb ports. am i correct to assume this?
one of the primary reasons for my concearn about this laptop is that it has all the usb ports on the right side which it appears to cause havoc for right handed mouse users. if the usb ports were further behind it would give enough breathing room to operate the mouse next to the laptop. but since they appear to be in the middle of the case it seems to me that it is not possible to operate the mouse without collisions.
i am curious how you work around this issue? -
I have an older alienware with the ports right in the middle of the case on the right hand side and I never have an issue. I just plug it in and make a U shape that goes up and then comes back down to the mouse. I never hit the side or the plug.
-
can you further explain, jikeel? i am assuming your right hand is at least one foot from the right side of the notebook to avoid collisions. i understand the u-shape regarding the wire. i am more concearned with collisions of the usb ports and the mouse that may cause unnecessary wear and tear of the ports themselves, possible loosening them up.

"i would think your right hand is at least 1 foot from the right side of the laptop (without lifting the notebook) so you do not collide with the usb ports. am i correct to assume this? "
Well, I'm telling that at work with just the mouse connected to the USB port there is nothing to work around really. Even with an USB key on it I never collide (may it is the way I use the mouse).
"one of the primary reasons for my concearn about this laptop is that it has all the usb ports on the right side which it appears to cause havoc for right handed mouse users."
That is actually one of the items in my list of not so good things of this notebook that I published in August. In the configuration you see on the pic, when all USB ports are being used as they are, yes there is some clutter as you can see. For gaming it is fine (I don't look at it really), but of you want type a document without disconnecting (the gamepad and the 5.1 headphones) yes it get's unconfortable, but why would you have them connected anyway for such task? If the USB ports were in the back, I could just forget about it I know.
I don't think that the problem you mentioned alone should couse any concern to you really.

Basically, my hand is only (from my thumb to the laptop) maybe 3-5 inches. I don't use low mouse sensitivity ever so maybe that is why I never encounter a problem. But basicaly it looks something like this:
__

||_| |
|| |
|| M
||
*NVM cant get this to display properly*
OK that is pretty crappy but you get the ideaI actually cannot recall a time where it was a problem. If you think about it, all you need to do is move your hand 1 more inch than normal to compensate for the usb plug. That is the only real thing to look out for but since they don't stick out that far and you can wrap the cord upwards then back down it shouldn't really get in the way. The only time I could see it being a problem is if you load up on all the ports with other devices but even then it should be manageable.
-
I do not have any issues with mine at all. I just hook up a usb hub to mine for my external hard drives, that stay there permanently. I have the same setup for 5.1 headphones and it takes a little more room than I like but it is still usable without being a hassle. My mouse pad is right next to my computer I think the usb cables stick out an inch I just route them to the back. I run the power for the headphones under the laptop so no problem there.
