What laptops from the sager brand support ddr3 ram?

i know there is the np8660 and the np5796, but what about the sager 2096, or the other centrino 2 laptops available. if i wanted to, could i purchase ddr3 ram and swap it out for the ddr2 ram easy peasy lemon squeezy?

    thanks?

No other Sager laptops support DDR3, and you can't buy DDR2 and swap it out because DDR2 and DDR3 aren't backwards compatible.

From what I see on sagernotebooks.com it only supports DDR2 as of now. Which means either the Chipset or Motherboard just doesn't support it so you will not be able to upgrade it with a DDR3 memory chip. And it wouldn't work also because I believe the # of pins on the DDR3 is different from that of DDR2. At least for SO-DIMMS that laptops use...so the chip wouldn't fit on a MoBo built for DDR2s.

Only Sager NP5796 and NP8660 (Clevo M570TU and M860TU) can use DDR3 memory. Other Clevo's models (Clevo M762TU, M762T, and M722T) and Compal JHL90 (Sager NP2096) are using DDR2. It is the chipset not supporting, so you can no use a DDR3 memory on a DDR2 system.

    Good Luck!

There isn't really a point to DDR3 ram as of now. DDR3-1066 performs more or less equally to DDR2-800, while costing a fortune more. DDR3 sodimms are 204pin whereas DDR2 sodimms are 200pin, making it impossible to just stick a DDR3 sodimm into a DDR2 slot, and likewise the other way around.
