Ok, I just bought a 5760 and tried playing a DVD for the first time. I can play games, cd's and even burn cds. But nothing happens when I load a DVD. I installed windvd, but when I try to pull it up nothing happens, it just sits there. If I try to use media player, I get sound, but no video. What am I doing wrong? Shouldn't I just be able to throw in the DVD and it should play through autoplay, correct? I read about codec, but it's kinda confusing. Is there something blatantly obvious that I'm missing?

    Thanks!

No, it's not the region codes, I already checked those. I downloaded a program and was able to play DVD's via that program; but, if I try to play it through WinDVD it won't play. I imagine something about the decoders. Shouldn't the WinDVD that came with the laptop already have those decoders to play the dvd?

Your laptop should have come with PowerDVD. Try installing that and using it.
I've had no problems with any DVDs I've tried so far, commercial and burned.
