I tried to plug my LG204wt on my M570ru through the DVI-out port, however, when I do so, my monitor goes in power saving mode ("Digital: Power saving mode"). However, the monitor works flawlessly on my desktop (through the DVI-Out). Also, the monitor works when I use the DVI->VGA adapter on my laptop. However, the quality is very bad, worse than straight VGA to my desktop. Does any1 have an Idea what's going on?

I contacted Eurocom, they gave me an RMA number, but I'd like to try and debug it a bit more, so maybe I wont have to give up my laptop for 1-2 weeks.

    Thanks!

you have to use the Nvidia Control Panel .... under nView

then set your external display's settings there.

Yes, thats what I did, both clone and dual view are not working. And it works when I use a DVI->VGA adapter, meaning that my settings are good.

But I suppose its also supposed to work with the fn+fX button (I think F3, not sure) since it changes the settings of the nvidia display manager

    Here's an update:

I tried my laptop on a different monitor, and it works flawlessly. However, I tried my laptop on a brand new LG204WT (Same as mine) and it still will not work... I get the exact same issue.

What the hell does this mean!?!?!?!

I have similar issues when connecting embedded hardware to DVI monitors. The timings have to be just right or the monitor will not process the inputs... leaving a "no signal" type of display. We work around the issue with a DVI->VGA connector bender.

If it works on a different monitor in DVI then something is slightly off... either your laptop or your monitor. I suspect your monitor (and all LG204WT) monitors since your lappy worked with another monitor.

You can also try different resolutions and refresh rates and see if your LG204WT works with those.

However, my LG204WT works fine on my desktop... and I've seen lots of 204WT work on dvi on different machines...

Are you completely switching over so the external monitor is primary and the notebook's monitor is off?

Bump... I still couldnt get the issue fixed, I contacted eurocom, but they dont seem to be investigating much... at least if they are they're not letting me know.

Just to be clear... my monitor works on my desktop (DVI) and not on my laptop. My laptop works on another monitor (a Samsung I think) on the DVI port, but not on my monitor. My monitor works when I use the DVI->VGA adapter, but the quality is horrible.

Eurocom told me to ship them the laptop... I will do so, however, unless they have a L204WT, I doubt they'll find any problem with the laptop.

It is highly likely that it is your monitor..... it's an LG. Not necessarily high end my friend.

And who said you need a high end monitor to plug it on the m570ru?

Well hope not as if that is the case it should be on Clevo specs and requirements :)

    * DVI (requires high end external monitor)

    Unlikely :)

    Trance
PS: There must be power/signal issue on the DVI port. Just a guess like any other.

imo, it is most likely the dvi cable that is the issue. if the dvi port works with one monitor but not the other, the cable is suspect. try a different cable instead of sending it back.

also the fact that you had used a dvi - vga adapter almost confirms this isn't a port issue.

in general, LG is a good brand, there is nothing wrong with it, infact it is a very good alternative to other namebrands. do a bit of research, you will find almost all brands will use the same panels manufactured from either Samsung, LG and another, i cant remember.

http://www.hardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=78 is an excellent place for LCD display info.

I tried several DVI cables, none work. But they work flawlessly on other monitors.

there is as much chance the fault is with your monitor as the laptop, incompatibilites happen... try putting a NWN2 dvd in your cd drive in your laptop...
