well i came across this company, pretty new but have some members on this site. they ship to canada and are very cheap for the ocz whitebook and 5796 :)

they are very friendly and knowledgable, the best CS ive ever had to be in fact.

im a little sceptical since their new and their site isint that professional, but they seem like they really care about what their doing. i do trust them and think they are legit imo.

if anyone can post comments or what not about this company please do. i also might be in the wrong section, so sorry.

id like to know if anyone has talked to them and have good experience. they seem like the best company yet. im liking the whitebook, but dont know about it yet. id like to know everything about it before i purchase it, as i might just get the sager.

Funny thing is I just noticed a post he made and I was like 'Who's this distributor?' Lol. Now someone actually looked at the site and recommends it. The coincidence of it all. :)

lol yea i noticed his post too, saying the whitebook is available for preorder. i get an amazing configed laptop for under 2,000, and maybe lower!!!

i maybe wrong about this but if it has an illuminated keyboard because i think this is like the m17x, im preordering this tomorrow!! its also good that we can pay using check, i dont know much about it but since im 16 and have no credit card, my dad wont go for this becuase hell think its fake and wont wanna order over the border.
we also save 3% when using a check to pay.

    OCZNBIM17A Barebone
    Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz T9400 CPU
    2GB RAM DDR 3 RAM
    160GB Hard Drive 7200RPM
    DVD Burner
    Single NVIDIA 8800M GTX Graphics
    Windows Vista Home Premium

all for only 1828$ US, i might even add 4GB of ram to save me the trouble of doing it myself, and the processor upgrade, but for this config in a sager itll be 2100$ CAD before taxes.

Hi everyone. I'm honored to have my own post :)

First of all, thank you tornbacchus. To answer your question, the whitebook does happen to have a backlit keyboard. I'd just like to add that I'm not the only retailer that has the 3% discount for some sort of check/wire transfer payment. PNB and Xotic PC offer this as well.

And Gophn, thanks for the kind words - though I have been corrected a few times :)

ha well dark smiley will probably read this, as i have just finished talking to him :) he gave me, i think is an amazing deal. this thing has everything that i want (power of the 5796, amazing look and an illuminated keyboard!!) and its soo much cheaper than sager.

    i got the following;

    OCZNBIM17A Barebone (OCZ whitebook)
    Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz T9400 CPU
    2GB DDR 3 RAM
    160GB Hard Drive 7200RPM
    DVD Burner
Single NVIDIA 8800M GTX Graphics - i debated on this one, between 1 8800, 1 ati 3870 or 2 (as 2 was too expensive), but i maybe able to upgrade it later i dont know
    Windows Vista Home Premium

    Your subtotal is: $1,735.32 USD
Your shipping cost is: $50.00 USD
Your total cost is: $1,785.32 USD

anyone think this is a good deal for the price and power?

EDIT: if Shane sees this, i might go for the 2 ati's in crossfire, as this thing will be shipped next month. it would only be like 2,200$. ill contact you tomorrow about it. i would just like to know some benchies of it from people before i go for it.

Does anyone know how thick the OCZ 17" is? I've heard 1.5" since the Alienware M9750 was based off of that chassis and is 1.5" thick and I've heard 1.9" thick before, too.

Well, you got me - but I happen to be a male sentient being.

You're right about the Alienware - it's an Arima chassis, but not this Arima - this one isn't even out yet, and that Alienware model was released in...what? February? This may be the updated model. I'm not sure. And I can't tell you about the thickness - I'll call OCZ in the morning and find out.

Hm, I'd like to see the dual 3870s in action, since the 3850 looks to be close to the 9800M GT...

That large picture is the whitebook, as well is the one on my site. Once again, I don't actually have a laptop in my hands, but I'm guessing that it's either a bad picture or only the cover is glossy. If you want, I can confirm this with OCZ tomorrow. It looks like the m17x because both chassis are from the same manufacturer.

We offer 1-3 year warranties, the texts are available at www.darksmileysystems.com/warranty.htm. We don't offer paint jobs or skins, but we recommend http://www.schtickers.com!

I'd like to see them too. When either OCZ sends me a test notebook or I get the first order that has them, I'll run some tests and post the results.

Is that the battery sticking about an inch out the back, why can't new notebook manufacturers make them flush with the rest of it, sort of a dumb looking.
But it's performance should make up for it.And if it was up to me I would get the crossfire setup a single card isn't worth it, hey it's only an extra $500.

Actually, it looks more like the M9750 with a glossy finish and a backlit keyboard, it's definitely not the m17x. It would be sweet if it can be configured with the 9800M GTX.

    im def interested in this notebook and will probably order it. theres just a couple things that are worrying me;

1; the cover looks very shiny, i want it shiny but that maybe too shiny, well just have to see(i believe you said you would contact ocz, that would be great) i just want to see a couple of real pics, not some photoshop ones with a white background

    and

2; im just wondering how this thing will be performance and stabillity wise. it seems very powerful, but what about cooling?, to support all that power, it has to be like the sager 9262's cooling system. i also want to see the 2 3870's performance before i switch from NVIDIA to ATI.

and on a side note, you mentioned that the whitbook will be able to support the 9800's eventually, but i saw some killernotebook ads with it already being able to have 9800GTX's. do you think you will be able to ship it with any 9800 cards ( GT/X) and will the notebook only be able to support 2 ati cards and not 2 nvidia cards? if its possibe, id like at least 2 8800's :) (these are also great questions to ask ocz :))

It can support a 9800GTX, but it's not "officially" supported by OCZ. If they do support it, however, I would love to ship with 'em.

You have a nice little PM about this.

I can't tell you exactly - OCZ says they get the chassis and they should ship sometime in September. It could be the 1st, could be the 30th - I'm hoping it's sometime in the first half.

I'll ask when I call in a few hours.

They haven't told me any benchmarks, but my first order in the pre-order list was configured with dual 3870s, so you can be sure to see those results when I build it (I'm also planning on releasing a nice little video of me building it).

They can put that 9800 series in, but I'm not doing it until I get some confirmation. I don't want anything screwing up with the BIOS or destroying OCZ's warranty on the barebone :). And no, sorry, it has been confirmed that the Criterion (my little name for the whitebook) does not support SLI.

If I may make a suggestion...we may be clogging up the Clevo forums, so it would be great if you posted all Criterion/Whitebook Questions here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=288194

Sorry to hear that. If your sales weren't good during the back to school period, that doesn't bode well. Maybe if you can build up a good advertising budget from desktop sales you can try to get ads or reviews in magazines. Hang in there.

It means free upgrade labor for life, clarified in the warranty. Probably should clarify that on the customization pages.

While it may not seem that helpful to all of you who know desktops inside and out, it's a better alternative to the not-so-tech savvy who would otherwise go out and buy a brand new system when theirs gets too slow.

I'd rather not - we've seen what happened with PCMW, and it's not like it takes much money to run this business. My overhead is roughly $150 a year, so I can sell very few computers per year and still have a profit.
