Now, I know the Arma II engine is one of the most poorly optimized in the entire gaming industry, but there has to be some secret to getting this game to run above 30 FPS. The dips and gains I get while playing are random and ridiculous. All I have to do is look in the direction of a large city like Cherno or Elektro and I drop from the playable 30 or so to about 10-18 FPS. I've tried absolutely everything (editing the config, max frames ahead = 1, etc...). I know the Enduro fix mighth solve some issues, but I'mm pretty sure that the problem is with DayZ itself.
What settings do you guys run DayZ on, and what FPS's are you getting? Any tips and tricks that any of you have for making this game run a little better?

Forget and trash Day Z and Bohemia Interactive. You know they are now taking a mod and going to charge $$$ for the standalone version of it? Just me, but I think Arma II engine is crud.
Just go with War Z, The War Z: The Survivor MMO Zombie Game coming to you this fall! -
I've already preordered my copy of survivor edition, but I'd like to be able to play DayZ as well with friends unwilling to take the plunge. I feel like the 7970m should be crushing this game, as people with 4xx series nVidia cards seem to play this game at straight 40+ fps.

I get the same FPS as you. It's terribad because the game itself is so great (if you can get past the awful character responsiveness).
DayZ an the 7970M: What do you guys get?
