Has your laptop of the current generation of Clevo had a dead pixel?
-
not sure if it's doable, but it might be more useful if we specified screen size (or even screen).
-
im not sure how to re-edit it. so if someone knows i could set that up possibly
-
DURDURDUR Thank you.
-
My p150hm from Malibal with the 95% gamut matte screen has 0 dead pixels.
-
No dead pixels on my bro's Sager 5160, matte 1080p.
-
No dead pixels on my Sager NP8130. Bought it from XoticPC with the stock matte screen. Didn't pay for the no dead pixel guarantee.
-
so it looks like people who have dead pixels haven't tried to fix them
-
How can people survive staring at that evil dot(s) on their laptops every day!
Still, it could be that they are in the process of getting it fixed; this should be another option
-
they use them for quickscoping?
-
Or what if it's in like a bottom corner? These screens have a lot of pixels, you'd have to like put your face 2-4 inches and focus on every part of the screen to see one probably.
-
is your dead pixel in the corner? and have you tried any of the "methods"
-
I never bothered to check the dead pixels.
-
LMFAO I would hate that... but kind of cool. has anyone tried returning it under warranty to get it fixed because if that works why would we buy the 75 dollar plan when its already covered >:O
-
you would use the money-back guarantee
-
I've never really heard so much about dead-pixels until reading the Sager forums... Is it more prevalent in Sager/Clevo models because I don't really see other forums talking about it?
That being said, I have no dead pixels on my 8130. -
On standard Screen i have had 1 dead pixel but did not matter since i changed the Screen anyway to an AUO v5
-
How do you self rid of Dead Pixels :O
-
Change the Screen your self

Every LCD in existence has the potential for dead pixels. It is talked about more in this forum because A) Clevo/Sager sell better screens than most laptops out there, and B) they will actually do something if you have dead pixels (whether you take the specific option or not). Many other manufacturers will only consider it an issue if you have a certain number of dead pixels, or a cluster, otherwise it is within acceptable tolerances.
One notable dead pixel problem was with the original Sony PSPs 5-6 years ago. Lots of returns/exchanges for dead pixels. -
8170 )(from LPC) with the hannstar glossy screen. no dead pixel (at none that i could notice). did not pay for the guarantee.
-
Doesn't this happen to alot of the 1st gen iPod Touchs?
-
it happened on my think pad from before y2k
-
I couldnt fix mine at all. I had a glaring red dot right in the middle of the screen so it was hard not to notice
-
I have one stuck pixel. It is glows green, and will "unstick" a good chunk of the time too. It never goes away permanently though. I nearly sent it back to XoticPC, but decided it was not worth the time. I did upgrade to the 95% matte screen, but I did not feel like waiting 2 weeks for the laptop...
Being that it is only a problem 50% of the time and it is really only annoying on very dark images/games, I chose against bugging Xotic.
If it was a dead pixel in the middle of the screen, I would have though. -
Went through 2 defective LCDs before getting a good one from XoticPC. They said they caught one more bad LCD during testing. So it's 3 bad ones out of 4 for me.
Had to pay for warranty to replace it. F@$%&ers. -
I'm curious about these "methods", what exactly are you referring to?
-
The "methods" are actually related to stuck pixels more so than dead ones.
5 Ways To Fix A Stuck Pixel On Your Screen
I find the last pushing method works for me occasionally. -
Wow this poll is actually pretty worrying
-
I bought one of the first 7280s from Xotic. I did not take the dead pixel policy as this had never been an issue for me. I developed a dead pixel shortly after receiving the laptop and returned the laptop for a money back guarantee right before the 30 days expired. I actually ordered another laptop before I returned the original so I would have minimal down time. The purchase price had fallen since I ordered my first laptop so the price difference made up for the shipping costs accrued for sending back the first laptop.

I don't have dead pixels per se but I voted for it anyway because my screen still has a defect.
There is a slight blemish or black spec of dirt near the middle of the screen between the panels that looks like a dead pixel. It's not a dead pixel though, but it's also something I cannot fix because it's underneath the top layer. -
there may also be distinctions between having a serious dead pixel problem and a minor one, also between what the industry norm about the number of dead pixels that would constitute an unacceptable number and what the user thinks is unacceptable.
-
This poll is statistically meaningless. The people most likely to to check this thread out probably have issues with pixels. If I had zero pixel issues, I certainly would have passed it.
Polls like this are very misleading due to the Survivorship Bias. -
also most people who haven't had a problem haven't posted because there is no need to. so just refer to the poll data.
-
Thanks for the link, definitely worth the read.
-
I copied that link from a Malibal post earlier today. I agree, very informative.
-
Yeah, a lot of people don't know their d!ck from dead pixel too.
There are threads out there right now where people are trying to figure out Glare and Matte screens, 'cause they have no clue what either one looks like... -
lol don't be so harsh, but i do somewhat agree. its like one is like flat black while off and the other is like a black car, not that hard to tell.
-
lol its a information poll just to get a general idea not use in a spaceship... o WAIT AIRPLANE OBAMA CANCELED NASA

Kind of thinking of returning the laptop or RMA-ing and getting the screen replaced. I mean the problems with pixels I see don't really bother me nor am I that nitpicky but when I put a full white background and thoroughly inspect the screen I can see a couple specs.. now their definitely not that visible since I need to stick my face a few inches from the screen and go slowly around to see them but day 1 while trying that I swear I could only see 1 in the bottom corner and now it would qualify for a replacement without the warranty(bought it anyways). But like I said, I honestly can't see them unless I go that close, just more appearing is quite bothersome.
Could be a defective screen altogether
Edit: And none are dirt/dust or anything of the likes, definitely pixel problems. Seems like there's 2 bright spots(very small), and the 1 dead originally saw at bottom right which is very hard to see and honestly doesn't bother me that much. -
try using the methods mentioned previously to fix it, and then rma it, also what does rma stand for?
-
Return Merchandise Authorization.. everyone seems to call it that when sending it back, since you need to get your RMA number from Sager to be listed on the package when sent to them. So just a term used on the technical side of returning.
And I've tried a couple, either made it worse, or got worse on it's own. Didn't touch the screen myself ever, and rather not do that method. <_< -
well if ur gonna rma it anyways its worth a shot, unless the warranty runs out.
-
Hmm.. decided to go ahead and try that last method on that link, since they were just lit/bright spots or whatever you call them, seemed to go away. Not sure if they come back? But seemed to work. So just 1 dead one at the bottom right but honestly can't see it unless stick my face a few inches away from the spot lol.. so might have got too worried quickly, or should I be.. o_o
-
Just wanted to point out that my new np7280 came with 0 dead pixels. I was super worried about it but it looks like I've lucked out this time.
-
No dead pixels here, but unfortunately I do have a tiny speck of dust inside my LCD which usually goes unnoticed.
